  1. They don’t know how supply and demand works, do they? If the listeners wanted 80% polish music, that amount would already be aired.

  2. And that’s how you make even more people stop listening to the radio and switch to streaming services.

  3. For a party that claims to hate socialism, most of PiS’ policies are very socialist and “intervening in the market whenever we want”.

But hey, throw “Catholic Polish values” and you have a core 20-25% of voters, throw money to another 15% and you get the job done…

  4. We have 35% rule in Ukraine – mainly to give Ukrainian content a fighting chance against Russian mass product machine. Depending on oblast, levels of Ukrainian language songs on radio [vary from 39% to 82% with overall average at 57%](https://www.ukrinform.ua/rubric-culture/3283425-sumsina-lidirue-za-castkou-ukrainomovnih-pisen-u-radioefiri.html). You can also have reduced 25% quota if you have a different license – for songs in EU languages (60% or more). Either way, 60% of radio programs time (other than songs) must be in Ukrainian.

We also have 75% Ukrainian rule for TV stations for any content and news broadcasts in particular between 7:00 and 22:00 for both. This week, on Monday, 50% rule for press also came into effect for papers in languages other than Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar or official EU languages – this means you have to match the amount of printed copies in Ukrainian and original language.

  5. We have bullshit law like this in Slovakia, something like 30 percent. If you are shit artist so laws have to created.

  6. Full support, our cultures are to americanized, plus it will incentives local musicians. In the long run it will enrich polish culture.

  7. JESTEŚ SZALONA MOWIĘ CI

(lyrics from a terrible Polish song dedicated to the Polish ruling party)

Edit: I think the intention to support local artists is admirable, but I agree with the radio stations that the plan could backfire.

  8. That’s actually disinformation for the public. PiS has quite a few dense fuckers that they are releasing in dire times to shift public focus somewhere else. Here they released the densest of them all – Marek Suski. By the way, he admitted that they used the pegasus system on a few hundred people each year. That’s how dense he is.

  9. it’s especially weird considering there’s lot of polish music on the radio without the restriction

  10. We’ve had a law like this in Canada fir a long time, except I think it’s 50%. Without that Canada would have been even more submerged than it was by American culture. But with the internet those kind of laws won’t stay relevant.

  11. I love Poland and Polish people, but their music sucks 🙁

I’ve really tried and I just can’t hack it.

  12. that a good thing it will produce a lot of talented polish singer in a few years, france do it with huge success for decades now

  13. music? what music? 80% of Polish music is unlistenable. They are ridiculous, even my gran uses streaming services to listen to her favorite music.

  14. I just turn to Złote Przeboje if I want to listen to Polish music, assuming I even listen to radio 🤷‍♀️ 80% seems way too excessive
