  1. Geoengineering our way out of this mess is as real as “clean coal” was 20 years ago.

  2. These tests would have affected no one. What do local communities want to be “engaged” about?

If you think this is a bad idea, fine. You might turn out to be right. Want to find out for sure? Then let scientists do science.

  3. I believe in science and we as human screwed up the earth, but spraying stuff in the atmosphere is not going to help things is going to make things worse. People remember the movie, Snowpiercer, and how that tragedy started.

  4. The idea of sulphur particulates reducing heat is not hypothetical at all – we know it works.

We’ve already been geoengineering the planet the past 150 years – thats what got us in this mess.

SRM is currently the only way we know of to reduce planet heating – carbon capture does not work at scale – iif you think about entropy for a moment, you’ll have an idea why – its much harder to un-mix a box of blue and red balls than it is to mix them up.

Its not Science that got us into this mess .. its greed – oil gas and coal money is keeping us from making the decisions needed based on the science we have, in the best interests of all, and the planet we are custodians of.

  5. I feel this belongs in /r/newsofthestupid

Geoengineering is one of the few realistic tools we have that can help save our biosphere.
