What Russia really wants is to find a way to overthrow the Ukrainian government and then get the new illegitimate government to agree to inviting the Russian Army in for “peacekeeping” reasons.
That photo totally looks like someone playing Minesweeper.
I mean yeah. It’s pretty obvious to most people. Russia doesn’t benefit from invading it right now
Of course. Ideally I’m sure they’d like a bloodless coup. Unfortunately we know from experience they are capable of much worse than bloodless.
Unfortunately this will be the case either way, whether pro-Western or pro-Russian government will be in power since the other side will always try to undermine and overthrow it. So something like legal neutrality or Finlandisation is the only real option for Ukraine to ensure stability and remain sovereign.
If the goal is to destabilize Ukraine, why threatening to invade ? Won’t fear of a foreign agression unite the Ukrainians more than anything else ?
