Watched this movie recently on Criterion (!) and absolutely love how over the top her acting is. It’s like the Western Kabuki that Nicolas Cage always talks about. Whether it was intentional, I don’t know.
Showgirls was honestly way overlooked. She gives a great performance and it’s hilarious campy fun… apart from the rape scene that comes absolutely out of nowhere like a bullet train. I’m convinced films like this and The Happening have intentionally dumb as rocks and campy dialogue, either way I love both.
The sex scene in the pool is just delightfully camp and hilarious
