They live there.
They’re pelicans. And they came from Russia originally (although that was many years ago!). 😊

Russia. Literally Russia. Russian ambassador gifted some to King Charles 2nd all those years back, and Kingy declared they have free roam around the city.

It’s funny that they only really ever stay around the palace. I’ve never seen them anywhere except st James Park or Green Park
A wonderful bird is the pelican,
its beak can hold more than its belly can.

There’s a video of a pelican eating a pigeon at St James’s park in front of a lot of tourists, I’m sure you can find it easily if you’re curious.
It’s an old tale that if they ever leave St James Park then the English crown will fall!

they got there on the Peckadilly Line to Green Park..

I saw them at 6am once on my way back to the coach station after a night out, was so confused and amazed i stuck around and lost my mates and missed the coach lol
