Fewer than 1 in 6 Americans want U.S. soldiers in any Ukraine-Russia war: poll

  1. >A poll from Convention of States Action (COSA) in partnership with the Trafalgar Group found that just 15.3 percent of likely general election voters believed the U.S. should provide troops as “boots on the ground” in the event of an invasion.

“Boots on the ground” has a more specific implication than just soldiers being involved.

For example an instructor training his Ukrainian counterparts to use the weapons provided wouldn’t be considered “boots on the ground”.

When people hear “boots on the ground” they think grunts on the front line.

  2. Most regular people don’t want to die for pointless ware. I doubt even 25% of regular Russian would want to go die in Ukraine.

  3. Unfortunately, the global situation looks more and more like the 30s.

US is returning to isolationism, and the European powers are reluctant to take a firm stand against agressors because of internal economic reasons.

  4. Imagine that… Americans are tired of dying in other countries that are no threat to the US. EU can put their big boy pants on and go after Russia themselves.

  5. We already have mercenaries there. U.S. has been trying to drum up support for the longest time, but they made Russia out to be too scary. Senseless confrontation. Russia put mercenaries in Donbas to defend against Ukrainian offenses. They would have invaded 8 years ago in the chaos of 2014 and would have, at the very least, recognized novorossiya. Too much benefit destabilizing Ukraine like this then invading.

  6. I cant see any country being happy to send their soldiers off to potentially die for the sake of ukraine. And frankly neither NATO nor the EU have an obligation to assist them.

  7. I would be willing to be fewer than 1 in 6 Russians want Russians in a Ukraine-Russia War either.

The upcoming war is 100% about one man’s ego.

  8. Hmm… But if there was 1:6 who wanted, and even 1:100 of them volunteered, it would be a mighty force.

I can imagine there’s plenty of retards who’d like to “hunt some Russkies” in US. This opportunity could be marketed, just like ISIS did to get foreign fighters.

  9. I’m sure this will change once russia sets up on cuba again, like Putin mentioned just the other day

  10. Any president that starts another war no matter how “right” it might be will cause his party and himself the next elections.

Anti-war and anti foreign entanglements are rapidly growing in the US. Just look at the big names in both party’s, both are tapping into the growing isolationist sentiment here. I really think if we have another financial crisis you will see this boil over to 1930s level isolationism, imo.

  11. Isolationism is a growing sentiment here. It makes sense that we will be returning to what we were for majority of our existence

  12. Whatever you say about Trump – HE DID NOT START ANY WARS!!! Now, after 1 year of democrate leadership Ukraine just has to become NATO, now way around it. Now people gonna suffer, people gonna die. Isn’t this like ten times more important than all of the other shit?

  13. Americans don’t want war, Russians dont want war, Ukrainians don’t want war, Germans don’t want war. Who wants war? Reddit moderators!
