Viktor Orbán on Thursday sent a letter congratulating Russian President Vladimir Putin on his re-election, MTI reported, citing Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press chief. Putin won Russia’s presidential election with more than 80 percent of the vote and will be Russia’s head of state for another six years. More than 85 million people voted for Putin, a record in the history of Russian presidential elections.
Orbán wrote in his letter that he was pleased that the cooperation between Hungary and Russia is based on mutual respect, which allows important issues to be discussed even in the current very difficult geopolitical situation.
The Hungarian Prime Minister said that Hungary is on the side of peace, “we are convinced that the maintenance of dialogue is an essential condition for the early establishment of peace”. Orban also assured Putin that “Hungary is ready to enhance cooperation between our countries in sectors not limited by international law”.
Sarcastically saying, we were wondering when he’s gonna do it, all of Putin’s besties have sent in their best regards numerous days ago.
