He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing on Thursday where he was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the community – reduced from 150 hours due to his early guilty plea.
He was disqualified from driving for 12 months and also handed a 12 month supervision order.
Can anyone who drives say they blame him?
Jokes aside, we have a serious problem in this country when it comes to dealing with criminals.
Dislikes are from children and people who cant drive
100 hours litter picking and losing your licence for only a year, for killing someone. Fucking hell.
Isn’t there a recent cyclist V HGV death in Bearsden? Bearsden is an absolute accident waiting to happen, especially with current roadworks at the busiest roundabout, where I’ve actually seen no work carried out for weeks.
The amount of traffic on the switchback is obscene, and living on the outskirts, I’m glad I’m not commuting to town every rush hour.
The residents on the diversion route must be fuming. There should be serious consideration to look at plans going forward to alleviate the carnage in Bearsden traffic wise.
Protecting the most vulnerable road users……
Before all the frothing at the mouth MAMILs descend baying for blood, you really should read this sentencing statement made by the judge.
I got a longer sentence than that for growing cannabis in a state where it’s legalized.
If you are found responsible for taking a life whilst driving. Your ban from driving should be for life too. You can become a keen advocate for pedestrians and cyclists as a result.
Heartbreaking. I can’t imagine what her family is going through. Killed on your way to work/uni… 😢
It’s hard not to feel a degree of sympathy for someone who is genuinely remorseful for such a tragedy. But the light touch sentencing applied to such crimes does nothing to make other drivers change their behaviours and prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
A community sentence is the minimum I would expect to be handed to the selfish and ignorant driving pricks who park on pavements. Not a driver who has killed someone. Feck sake.
I cycle the same route as Emma most days and think about her every time I pass the casino and her ghost bike
I don’t believe jail is the solution for everything, but I can’t imagine somebody killing me on my commute due to their own negligence and only getting 100 hours CPO
I was hit by somebody last year who said “I didn’t see you” after failing to give way and knocking me off my bike.
“I didn’t see you” isn’t an acceptable response, and I’m just lucky that for me that day it just resulted in bruises
UK sentencing is so weak it’s unbelievable what killing with a vehicle gets
Yeah, see, people on this sub get mad at me every time I bring this up, but this is why at 32 I still cycle on pavement. I’m not risking my life just trying to get from a to b.

I’m going to repost the detailed statement link, minus the inflammatory comment made by another poster.
