James Marsden, Alan Thicke, more wrote letters of support for convicted child abuser Brian Peck

  1. I love when people do this, lets me know who to avoid

  2. On the one hand, the idea of being supportive of a child molester is abhorrent on the cellular level. But, those people giving support likely never knew the nitty-gritty of what actually went on. I feel that way a bit about everyone who supported Danny Masterson.

I’d like to think if they were fully briefed on what went on, they wouldn’t have written the letters (or, was “asked” by the studio to write those letters, which is my other intuition on this case and cases like it).

  3. I would never write a letter on behalf of anyone, even immediate family. The fact that courts even use these letters in abuse cases is strange to me.

The whole thing with predators and abusers is that they pick their targets strategically, and they have different masks for different groups. Most abusers have many people who would speak up for them because their whole deal is manipulating people.

Just because someone is nice to me doesn’t mean they are nice to everyone. Character witness stuff shouldn’t be used in abuse cases imo.

  4. Question: at what point in a trial/sentencing does the defense gather these letters of support? Are they generally solicited and written between the verdict and sentencing? I would assume after verdict so that people can ask for leniency but I really don’t know.

  5. The letters of support thing is always crazy to me… I can understand for very few things, but fuckin child molestation, no sir foh

  6. Aww James, you beautiful bastard, why have you done this to me?

  7. I can’t believe all these guys approve of raping a preteen boy

Am I not to assume they have/would do the same crimes?

  8. Isn’t Alan Thicke dead?

Edit: these letters are from 20 years ago, my mistake

  9. Karma is coming James. Alan already got his. Fuck that guy.

  10. I just learned that Alan Thicke was 39 & on Growing Pains when he started dating Kristy Swanson, 17. It wasn’t hidden or anything, it was public.

  11. I didn’t consider the possibility that the letter-writers weren’t fully aware of what happened until I actually watched Quiet on Set. That’s what I want to hold onto because I really like James Marsden and I was disappointed to learn of him being among the names. The ones they showed that were straight up victim blaming, YIKES! Those people would go to bat for Julianne Moore’s character in May December.

  12. Everyone who ever met my dad said he was the coolest easiest going guy, the life of the party. But when his friends weren’t around he would flip and beat the hell out of me and my brother constantly and my mom at times. When my brother and I finally called the cops after he said he was gonna kill us and jumped from the top of our staircase and down to the bottom where we were and beat the hell out of us, ran away to a friends house and called the police, police came and saw we were biracial and my dad was a white guy saying “I’m just trying to discipline my sons.” Cop just said “ok.” And left, never talked to us. Our mom had to come pick us up and take us to our grandmas house until he was cool guy McGee again.

  13. Keep in mind – this guy is a manipulative predator, and being as friendly as he was towards a lot of the folks who wrote the letters was likely done with an ulterior motive. I am gonna take a wild guess that motive was to rape children.

Also, those who sent the letters weren’t told the full story. From what I saw in the *Quiet on Set* doc, it seems like some rather important details were left out. It was atrocious what happened to Drake. The courtroom packing thing also sucked, but that is *exactly* what Brian Peck wanted. The dude was pen pals with John Wayne Gacy. I’m gonna take another wild guess here and say they probably talked about some pretty heinous stuff.

  14. People defending or downplaying the letterwriters here need to remember the crime involved an underage boy. They had to know this and still wrote those letters. No amount of “the other side of the story” is gonna justify that. Some were in the courtroom and didn’t change or walk back their support afterward even after the testimony. Fuck that “I didn’t realize” BS.

To hell with every one of these assholes.

  15. You can’t convince me these people aren’t either mentally disabled or genuinely evil, writing a character letter for a kiddie fukker AFTER the shit with Ashton Kutcher & Danny Masterson. Are you insane??! 🤣🤣

  16. Tldr:; Hollywood continues to provide you examples of why you should not idolize them, nor listen to anything they have to say about virtue, values, etc.

You can watch their movies though and be entertained if you want though!

  17. Saw Kimmy’s full letter on r/twinpeaks. Some other redditors found pictures with him on her Instagram from only a few years ago; very disappointing.

  18. How about saving your outrage for the rapist Trump? Why are some gen-z supporting him?
