The US never stopped, so I guess that would be expected.
They need to keep people distracted from the failing economy , corruption and growing dissent within China..
Warmongering is perfect for that.
edit:typo
Guess the hopes and dreams of a future with prosperity and peace is on the scrapheap.. Everyone seems to be gearing up for war
This could also be an endeavor to help their economy.
Now is the best time to invade their neighbor
Let’s hope they are just as effective as they were back then.
That’s what happens when we let Putin and Russia get their way.
Since WWII? We should be fine then, China in WWII was on life support for most of the war
Everyone’s economy seems like it’s in a razors edge,
Damn seems like everyone’s looking for a war, I wonder if this is how it felt before ww1
Great thing we gave them a super strong industrial base. That was really helpful for the US during the last one.
The USSR bankrupted itself on competing with USA, I wonder how the Chinese economy really holds up.
The whole world knows this, and hopefully will not allow the same mistakes that they allowed during world war 2.
Everyone can see China is ready for war, it is bullying all of its neighbours and has hooked its wagon to Russia.
And the Russian wagon isn’t a good one to be on.
There was a US presidential candidate who warned about Russia and China and how the US navy was smaller than ever and inadequate then he got laughed at and told the 1980s wanted it’s foreign policy back.
It’s just a byproduct of some of the fastest economic growth the world has ever seen. Defence spending as a percentage of gdp has remained fairly constant, about 1.3% officially, 1.7% by SIPRI.
There’s nothing out of ordinary about Chinas spending pattern, it’s basically what NATO requires, albeit not quite 2% GDP.
COULD WE FUCKING NOT
Thi ga must be looking seriously bad for these countries to want to go to war.
They need to finish the silk road first, they said it’s for trading.
Harbors, railways, highways – from China to Europe and Afrika.
Maybe they use them as military supply routes?
But even if not. Just look at the amount of ppl living in China.
900.000.000 adults. Between 18-40.
Easy drawing 100.000.000 men to fight.
Just imagine the numbers available. They would trow them into the meat grinder, like the Russian does.
First step towards WW3: allow the Ukrainians to lose even more territory and confirm for all the tinpot dictators that we really do lack a backbone.
When the economy gets bad, the government “employs” by increasing the size of the army.
Especially when the army is known for doing “public works”. It is effective for taking disaffected youth and keeping them from causing trouble.
What a sensationalist post, Chinas military spending remains under 2% GDP, and below American spending level
business insider WANTS YOU to be ready for war!!!! So be sure to INVEST in the WAR MACHINE !!! I AM DOING MY PART!!!!!
Hate to be an alarmist, but God damn does it feel like a world war is inevitable
All part of Todd’s master plan to have Fallout 5 release by 2028. Itll be so huge it’ll feel real!
This is a rate of buildup not even the US could possibly hope to match, no matter the budget.
” China’s military has added more than 400 fighter aircraft and 20 warships to its arsenal and doubled its missile inventory in the last three years, Aquilino said.
At the same time, Beijing has increased the number of satellites it fields by 50% and more than doubled its nuclear warhead arsenal, he added.”
Duh. They need to somehow be able to fend of the US of cause there will be a massive buildup. China would be stupid if they wouldn’t do this
China knows if they don’t act soon they won’t be able to act at all. The countries power is at its Zenith right now and will only go downward from here. Their economy is slowing down and on the brink of an economic collapse. The average age of the population is going up every year and the country is basically missing an entire generation.
The Chinese are even more brainwashed than the Russians.
They’re coming for Africa and Taiwan in that order
We are going to be in a timeline when 3 seperate wars are happening, all of them involving nuclear nations invading very controversial areas. Couple that with global warming and the world is on thin ice, literally and figuratively.
WTF Is this propaganda? China spends less than 2% GDP on military. 1.6% to be exact.
And here we are with NATO countries and allies demanding everyone spend at least 2-3%.
Fuck off with this china fearmongering
I sort of wonder how the Chinese social structure would handle a war that might be like the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Two generations of “one child per family” has created not just a shortage of young people to be recruits, but two generations of parents and grandparents who have only that one child/grandchild. Sending him off to be cannon fodder and casualties for inept battlefield commanders will not go well, if Russia is any indication of the quality of military capabilities when dictated by a regime based on fear of rocking the boat. Trying to send boatloads of soldiers across to Taiwan will make them sitting ducks.
Contrary to popular belief, China’s Communist Party is like the guy riding a tiger. They don’t dare get off, and they can’t afford to let the tiger – the masses – get too upset. Even back in Tien Amen they had to get the army front lines hopped up on drugs (sorry, “vitamin shots”) before they could go and massacre students. How will millions of people react when their only child comes home in a bodybag? The CCP lives in fear of mass riots.
I shoul add that a likely outcome of an invasion of Taiwan would be an immedaite embargo on goods from China to the west. Not a good outcome for an economy built on exports.
Saber rattling. That’s all. Nothing to fear until booms start shaking all over the earth. The next World War will be quick. The minute someone starts losing, buttons are pressed and the world ceases to exist.
That’s why most all of this is saber rattling. Everyone knows what will happen if the next global conflict breaks out, so nothing will happen. Just idle threats.
Still gotta feed them .
Visit Taiwan before things potentially get fucked up there. I really really really hope they don’t. I visited last year and it immediately became my favourite country, and I’ve been to a couple dozen. It’s almost shocking how it’s basically on nobody’s tourism radar, for how awesome it is. Maybe they prefer it that way?
Good thing I bought a slingshot.
That army is not pointed at us. China’s military barely has the logistical capacity to operate within its own borders and its navy can’t sail past Da Nang, Vietnam. It is also THE importer of food, fertilizer, and fuel, critically reliant on sea lanes they cannot reach in force much less control. Unlike Russia, which is a massive exporter of all three, China would be destroyed by sanctions from an external war. We’re talking several hundred millions starving in the dark. This is an INTERNAL force, preparing to suppress it’s own population.
The CCP has long had a deal with the people; “Shut up and do as you’re told, and we’ll let you make money.” Making money is no longer a given for average Chinese people and that deal is breaking down, so out come the men with guns.
