  1. Beetlejuice is back in the first trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Tim Burton’s sequel that took nearly 40 years to haunt theaters.

Jenna Ortega stars in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, with Michael Keaton back as the grotesque ghost and Winona Ryder returning as Lydia Deetz, who is now a mother to Ortega’s character. Catherine O’Hara also returns, with Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci joining the franchise.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrives Sept. 6 and has taken a very long road to the screen. The first film, released in 1988, remains a comedy-horror classic and has continued on on the pop culture consciousness since its release. It won the Oscar for best makeup and earned $80 million on a $15 million budget.

Burton has long talked about a sequel, and it finally gelled early last year, when Ortega was attached to star. The film further brings Ortega into Burton’s world, as she is the star of Wednesday, the hit for Netflix that Burton directed on and produced.

“It’s been quite an insane experience. I’ve been lucky enough to get the opportunity to work with an iconic director who just so happens to be one of the sweetest directors I’ve worked with, and also the most detail-oriented,” Ortega told The Hollywood Reporter of working with Burton ahead of Wednesday’s debut.

  2. I’ll go see it, but keeping expectations low.

And they couldn’t find another actress that can do goth? Why Jenna Ortega. Her Wednesday is not that great..

  3. Looking forward to this one! Everyone looks great! I love Keaton! He totally delivered as Batman in The Flash movie, which for me I think of as Batman 3. Can’t wait to see him again as Beetlejuice!

  4. Not a whole lot to see here but visually it’s looking pretty decent!

  5. Lmao this is the second time I’ve seen this photo. Can’t believe I didn’t notice anyone else except Winona!!

  6. I’m sad Geena Davis won’t be returning. Would have loved to have seen her.

  7. I’m worried Jenna Ortega is going to get typecast as the goth snarky sibling.

  8. I just went to the theater to see Frozen Empire and was shocked that I saw a trailer for it. It looks pretty okay (for now) but I’m really just going to go see it for Michael Keaton lol as soon as I heard him say “The Juice is loose” to Lydia I was immediately on board.

  9. I hate the tone of this. Its all…reverential. Not manic, batty or creepy.

  10. I’ll see it for Michael, Catherine, and Winona. Not a huge fan of Ortega, but she also isn’t a deal breaker.

  11. I can’t watch the trailer, want all surprises! Just here to say I’m so excited to see this!!

  12. Is Jenna Ortega the only young actress working now days?

    Feel like she is everywhere.

  13. They’re marketing Ortega in the same way they did Winona and Christina Ricci and I’m not mad

  14. Oh god, the first Tim Burton movie in decades.
I have very little faith he can capture the original’s zany “still have something to prove style directing” that made his early films so fun to watch.

I think this is the love/hate relationship fans of Burton go through. We want something unexpected, but the only original content hes done recently was a stop motion remake of one of his own films.

I would watch Tim Burton film a can of slowly rotating beans for two hours with fart sounds if only to have something more whimsicle than his recent forays.

  15. My darling batman is utterly incredible and I’m so glad to see him back at his eepy creepy best, this man can act circles around the sun. O hara and defoe, we are utterly spoilt.
