Imagine the mess if DE or NL would have this kind of border with UK. Thank God for the Channel.
Will I get in trouble when I park my German car on the Dutch side?
How did the border look like before Schengen zone?
They use the dutch traffic signs because they are cheaper than the german ones.
I like the way the cars are sticking to their own countries 🙂
I like the cars to be on the side of the road that matches their license plates and the country.
I love a few kilometers from there. It is said that this is extra crazy during football world championship and Germany is playing against The Netherlands.
From next month there are new EU rules for lorry drivers. They have to stop every time they cross the border and manually enter the new country.
Driving around places like this or that famous town in belgerlands with triple level exclaves will be fun 🙂
Imagine *Johnny Potthead* parking/driving his car on the left side of that road, with his maximum allowed cannabis on him that is ‘tolerated’ by Dutch law…
His day could get an unexpected twist when he meets German law enforcers..
Just imagine if one of those countries drove on the left
A World without Borders would be nice
Strange to see it like this. Usually the Germans reserve the left side of the road for us Dutch.
As an American, this is such a bizarre sight for me. We….don’t get along with our neighbors like this.
There is also a building at the end of that street that is on the middle of the border with offices for international firms and a Dutch/German policy station on the middle of the border.
So how has this been working out with covid quarantines?
It’s like a salad of sliced Belgium and Netherlands.
Only Dutch street not on street view.
This street doesn’t have Street View at all, while all Dutch ones do. I was hoping it did with the German side blurred out, would be unique 😉
I can just imagine them having annual turf wars to decide if they speak dutch or German
When me and my dad went to the Media Markt near this we’d park on the side of the road in Netherlands and cross the street to Germany to go into the store. I was around 8 yo at the time and it was wild for me crossing borders like that.
I get there in about 15 train minutes.
Is always fun to leave and enter the country 100 times an hour.
This reminds me of r/place when people were mixing flag styles at the borders to declare peace.
This is why I love Europe
so i wonder, why didnt they just decide what country the town belongs to? seems easier than having a split town.
Would’ve been funny, if one country had right-hand side traffic and the other one — left hand side
Gosh would it be funny if the dutch had left-hand driving. That way they it would be illegal for them drive the way they know due to right-hand driving as they are in Germany and illegal as they are in the Netherlands as they would then drive on the wrong side again
If the border crosses the middle of the road, who is maintaining the road?
Ahhh, we need more borders like this one. Makes you feel Free…
Schwarze Schrift auf gelbem Grund, halte Abstand bleib gesund! 😉 tot ziens!
I live 5min from there!
Is one side of the road paved by one country and the other by the other?
Ok, serious question – how is Germany and the Netherlands (and Belgium, while we’re on the topic) dealing with covid restrictions with these borders?
What’s stopping me from taking my car from Munich, driving to Neustrasse, simply going through this street and in two hours I’m in Amsterdam, coughing in people’s faces?
Asking as a citizen of a non-Schengen country, so please be gentle.
I already know on more in Bocholt
It must be super annoying to call your neighbours across the street and get charged additionally for an international call.
There also are some roundabouts on that road. So if you wanna corss the border a lot of times really fast you just take one of the roundabouts and drive in circles all day.

do you have to be vaccinated to cross the street?
Still not as insane as Baarle-Hertog. https://i.imgur.com/XsNaxwR.png
