Good for him, I guess. He was going to get his arse handed to him either way.
Wait til labour lose votes to reform, I think anti immigration is the next big issue like Brexit was.
The Lancet have just published a report pointing out that underpopulation is a huge problem and the UK itself has a birth rate that’s way below replacement rate, we need more immigrants not less, the Reform party will turn the UK into a shithole
I’ll be voting reform in the next election.
I like their policies on bringing some public services back into public ownership.
I think they are talking sense on many green policies we are shooting ourselves in the foot with.
Closing a steel plant just to import steel from fucking India. So we can “save the environment” by adding to its emissions overall.
And of course their stance on migration is I think a common sense view. We have a real issue with people abusing the systems we set up and the rate of migration isn’t sustainable.
Anyone who says it is simply doesn’t live in an area with hotels full of migrants. Because if you did you would change your tune.
They won’t win but for these reasons they are going to get plenty of votes imo. Probably more than ukip famously did.
The trouble with setting up a new right wing party, is that a lot of people who vote Conservative are, well, conservative. They don’t really want a new party coming along and upsetting the apple cart.
“Let’s go back to the way things were” is a tricky sell when you are a party that was only formed a couple of years ago and has no established track record.
So when they lose they get to blame it on being in a party full of far right nutters?
I’m hoping Reform gobbles up Tory votes and destroys them even more at the election
I’m glad reform exist as it will just split the Tory vote. My city is historically labour but would of been Tory had the “brexit” party didn’t run in the area
“I’m voting reform because we need a party other than Labour AND TORY”
With luck ALL the fascists will defect to the Reform Company sign a Contract of Employment and fail to deliver on the company’s targets.
The Tory Party can then become conservative again.
The Tory Party split was always bound to happen after they sucked in the poison from UKIP all those years ago, this is simply the clock resetting itself. They have used up all the character politics they could and milked the gammons as long as they could, Reform is just UKIP in a new suit. The ex-UKIP members are just going home and the Tories are just reclaiming their party.
In 6 years when we have our next election after this, Reform will barely be a blip and the Tories will be back to being the old boys club promising tax cuts and pointing to reform to claim they “got rid of the bad eggs”.
The public will buy into it, because the general public are thick as fuck and have goldfish memories. They will come close but lose the election, but it’ll be a platform for in 10-11 years time when they’ll be back in power. “We got rid of the dickheads, now we can fix the country, we promise it wasn’t us that made it all go bad, look at how badly Labour have managed the economy. We’re here to fix it.”
I promise you now this is the exact timeline of events.
2024 – Labour wins, Reform gets a bump from the ex-UKIP’ers, Tories reset.
2028 – Labour wins, narrower margins, Tories return as the old school Tories, Reform have either already folded or have vanished. Tories claim they are different now, they got rid of all the naughty weirdos and everything that was wrong was their fault.
2032 – Tories win, promise us they’re the old Tories and can fix the economy. Blame Labour for the last 8 years, accutely ignoring the incredible debt they got saddled with and the fact they’ve actually started to fix it. Tories take claim for the small gains that were actually from Labours 8 years of fixing.
2036 – Tories win, promise us that the economic downturn was due to Labours mismanagement 5 years ago. New tax cuts on the wealthy aren’t their fault but will stimulate growth. New far right party gains traction and drops off the ballot last second defecting to the Tories….
Thus the cycle continues. Unless, we actually can remember what’s happened this time and never let this happen again. But unfortunately people are easily lead and stupid. They also don’t like being told they’re wrong.
Odious toad. At least he’s helping to split the right, even though he now gets to play pretend and campaign as a maverick little guy against the establishment.
I’m glad it’s splitting that cunt party, but it does have me concerned about the rise of American style right wing politics here.
After all nobody benefits more from the boats than tories
We thank him for splitting the vote and making it harder for the Tories to win
Like rats from a sinking ship…….The political whores.
Defecting to Reform is the MP equivalent of throwing a tantrum.
Very telling on the Tories that such high-profile figures are going to Reform UK.
