The West doesn’t actually want Ukraine to win because it’s not prepared to deal with a defeated Russia. It’s the main reason why they don’t want Ukraine to escalate, why they didn’t want Ukraine to take advantage of the Wagner mutiny, why the US/NATO won’t send long range weapons and on and on.
They don’t want Ukraine to do anything that might actually help them win and drive the Russians out. They are not prepared to deal with a defeated, broken chaotic Russia and the very real danger of a Russian state collapse.
They’ll trickle in just enough weapons and money to keep Ukraine in the fight but not enough to end the war in victory, only stalemate and negotiation.

The flaw in this argumentation by US officials is that RF shows no constraints using whatever means short of nuclear weapons to indiscriminately attack Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine has been subject to “retaliation” by Russia since 2014 simply on the grounds of trying to protect their citizens from murder, injury and rape by the RF military.

Hitting the refinery’s is how to end the war. Russia won’t economically be able to maintain the war machine or logistics into Ukraine. 80% of their economy is from oil. The United States doesn’t want the war to end they want it to be a stalemate for as long as possible to keep Russias military depleted for the United States next war . Russia being so militarily weak can’t support of militarily support Iran or North Korea or China if we’re at war with either of them or all. That’s just a theory of mine. I think Ukraine should get what it needed to stop Russia and end Russian forces in Ukraine then bolster AA defense on the eastern front and north so Russia can’t fire missiles from Russia into Ukraine.
