7. When I was a kid I thought bus drivers were losers, because what kind of work is that blah blah blah. Now I realize most work is for “losers,” if I use as a measure the excitement or appeal of the job. Idiocy in youth: timeless.

   I now understand what probably most adults do. You work. You do your job, and live a decent life. Uncomplicated, not boring. I was not understanding the nature of “work” when I was a kid. That ended once I started working. At an allegedly “good” job. Yes it was a good job! But it’s all just work. We just do it. A healthy work ethic really does help in life. Builds practical habits.

   So here is this not-insignificant person, doing their not-insignificant job, in a not-insignificant place, and Putin kills them.

   The bus driver knew and breathed so much more about life than Putin ever will. Maybe more than some of us, if we have yet to get old enough to see.
