  1. What an odd case.

Manslaughter seems pretty harsh considering it was for telling someone who shouldn’t be on the pavement to get off the pavement, sounds like it was more on the other person than them.

  2. Cyclist shouldn’t have been on the pavement.

Sick and tired of bellends of all ages nearly flattening folk cos they don’t want to obey traffic laws.

“Ooh look the light ahead is red, doesn’t apply if I illegally ride on the pavement derpaderpaderp”

Mad respect to the cyclists who do follow the law, you lot have vans and busses to deal with, that can’t be fun either.

  3. The shared path was too narrow and sounds to have lacked lines and signs. The judge leant on the side of the cyclist at every juncture and it was a miscarriage of justice.

I can accept that due to poor markings the cyclist may never have seen any sign saying the cycle path had ended, but that’s due to council uselessness.

  4. I’ve never understood why ‘wins right to appeal’ is a news story.

I mean…good, I guess? Yay for more justice? Nothing has been decided.

  5. Several months ago I was giving way to a car turning right. He cut the corner and drove straight into me fracturing my leg.

Police didn’t charge him with anything. They’ll probably give this woman a medal.

  6. See here is my issue. Part of their argument is she is autistic and didn’t know. As someone with asd does that mean I can shoot someone because I didn’t know?????

  7. “Woman who shoved pensioner into moving traffic causing her death wins right to appeal”

Hope the appeal fails, and she spends a good chunk of time behind bars.

  8. I gather the appeal is to do with if the jury was asked to consider if there was any criminal intent in the action – which apparently there needs to be, to found guilty of this charge. (per article, I am not a lawyer).

The shocker is comparing this case – someone with cerebral palsy and partial blindness – and a bad temper it seems – getting a 3 years sentence, for a momentary action that had a terrible consequence, with the teenagers who had been bullying a man for weeks who then attacks him, breaking his ribs, and he dies within a day, and they get between 9 months and 1 year each – [https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd1067pn46lo](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd1067pn46lo)

  9. Everyone is accountable for their actions. Autistic or not. Anything else would be discrimination
