Quite expected statement from PM of Finland. For decades in Finland roughly 25% of people have been advocating joining NATO and 40%-50% have been against it. Russians actions in Ukraine since 2014 has risen popularity of NATO, but not in substantial way. Also left leaning parties, which PM is part of, have usually been more against joining NATO. Its been right wing parties in Finland that have been more supportive of NATO, since they have been politically closer to US and many NATO countries.

Is this at all surprising? Finland spent the entire Cold War being the neutral ground between East and west while still being in The West. Why would it do anything to fuck with that? Sure, maybe it aligns with her personal politics but also with majority opinion there for decades now.
