I'm a lawyer from Estonia and I'm looking for more info on this case: https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN1Q922N/

This was big news in Europe back in 2019, but I'm struggling to find new updates. The most recent article I could find is from 2022 and if Google Translate is correct, the court sessions were supposed to end by 2023: https://www.delfi.lt/news/daily/lithuania/teiseju-korupcijos-byla-kauno-apygardos-teismas-planuoja-atversti-gruodzio-pradzioje-91539981

First question: can anyone provide any update info on this case? 26 people were detained, including 8 judges and 5 lawyers. Has anyone been convicted? Or acquitted?

Secondly: was this a high-profile case among regular Lithuanians? Was it a topic of conversation back in 2019? And do people talk about it these days?

Thanks in advance

  1. I’ll be honest, this is the first time I’m hearing it, so I doubt it was very popular outside mentioned Kaunas city.

But, delfi or 15min are a complete joke, don’t use them and instead check out [https://www.lrt.lt/en/](https://www.lrt.lt/en/)

Also update regarding this case: [Vienoje iš teisėjų korupcijos istorijoje – smūgis liudytojui, buvęs teisėjas išteisintas – LRT](https://www.lrt.lt/naujienos/lietuvoje/2/2176712/vienoje-is-teiseju-korupcijos-istorijoje-smugis-liudytojui-buves-teisejas-isteisintas)

  2. Here are all the articles on this topic, the latest one is from this month:

Unfortunately, some are behind a paywall.

To answer your second question, don’t be fooled by the other commenter’s ignorance. It was a pretty big topic on the news, but as with most such cases here, it eventually fizzled out and everybody lost interest in it.
