I do not hate Max, i am very grateful for all the titles he brought us in his first cycle. BUT it's shocking how bad we have been tactically since his return. I'm currently sitting on my couch with my feet up and I came up with this tactic that is far from revolutionary if you watch european football. We wouldn't even have to change any players! I refuse to believe that a coach that has won so much is outsmarted by a goofball in his pajamas (me). Nevertheless if you can see i opted for a classic 4-3-3 that becomes a 3-2-5 in possession and a 4-4-2 out of possession. In the 3-2-5 to me the positions of Cambiaso and Rabiot are interchangeable, him and McKennie are 8's that converse and interchange with the wingers who want to cut inside (2nd slide). In the 3rd slide i have drawn up a standard build up, in this case for our right wing (yellow lines passing, black arrows runs), there are plenty of variations and opportunities for our players to get into dangerous positions. Cambiaso to me should be the perfect partner to Loca, who gives stability, because of his creativity and would be a central part of build up. To make this happen we would need to study and train this in practice and have the courage to try it out in games, things that our coach apparently isn't willing to do…
This is just an idea if you have anything to add or things you would change leave a comment.
BTW i used the Football Board app for android

There is no universe where anybody deserves to see Gatti RB. I like that guy, love his entire story. From playing in lower diversion too becoming av Juve player. But everytime he joins the attack and receives the ball outside the opposition box I fucking die on the inside. Having to watch that every match if he plays RB, god help me…
Chiesa can’t play on the right flank
looks good but just switch gatti and danilo, danilo is perfect for an inverse RB, to switch so a 3man defence in attack
Really solid this. I’ve been thinking for a while Chiesa should be played on the right, it’s too difficult on the left for him as we don’t have a threat on the right side so the opponents can just focus on him and Vlahovic.
Think that last slide is our attack now
Finally, a quality post that is not over dramatic and tries to tackle the true issues our team has. THANK YOU. Love the idea of Chiesa on the right, I think it would simplify his game and take him back to doing the simple things, and rebuild his confidence. The shape of the tactics is similar to what Max wants to do, but there are a bunch of issues that you’ve overlooked.
1. Not a single one of the 3 center backs can build from the back or make quality runs with the ball to disrupt defensive structures. They lack the technical qualities to do that and you can see it whenever we pass the ball at the back… as soon as they’re pressed a little, they make so many mistakes.
2. Yildiz has looked out of his depth for about 60% of the minutes he played so far, considering him as a starter is very optimistic imo. We have no one else who can play this position either, which means we would solely rely on Yildiz even if he somehow started performing consistently.
3. Cambiaso is not mature enough to play the 6 role atm, this is the main issue we have now as well whenever Max tries to do this tactic. Andrea is great playing on the wing-back role and coming into the middle into the 8/10 position to create, but whenever he is asked to sit further back he gets lost in no man’s land and Loca ends up being isolated and marked out of the game.
4. This one is not tactical, but we just lack true leaders in the team. Think about the past decade, the last true starter ‘leader’ technically and physically that we had was Mandzukic. Bugfon and Chiellini barely played, Ronaldo played for himself, and the rest just don’t have that mix of consistent grinta and quality.
In summary, the current squad composition is very flawed (Pogba and Fagioli missing out and Kostic falling off a cliff probably play a huge part tbf) and our defense especially has too many similar players, who are all inferior to Bremer, which creates a fundamental issue, no one is particularly good at reading the game and if you look at the goals we’ve conceded recently, a lot of it comes from “not seeing” the game in a way smarter defenders would. Danilo, Gatti, and Sandro are all kind of the same player, not good enough for a team competing for titles neither defensively nor offensively.
