Coming up with new ways to Stave off the destruction including using an underwater sound system let’s have a look and a listen the sounds of the sea boosted by an underwater speaker these marine biologists are playing the sounds of a healthy coral reef to a reef

That is dying in the hopes that it will be encouraged to regenerate this is our little um microcontroller board this is the amplifier for the speaker and so all of that um goes out so this is a recording from a healthy coral reef the crackling in the background that you hear is

Mostly snapping shrimp and every once in a while if you hear a little some pops or grunts or gurgles um at the lower frequencies those are all fish cars recent studies showed that Coral lvi was more likely to settle near a reef making healthy noises scientists are hoping the

Idea takes off as reefs around the world are struggling to survive in increasing ly warmer Waters

Coral reefs provide a home for nearly a quarter of all marine species, help to protect coastlines and support the billion-dollar fishing and tourism industries.
But, partly due to climate change and over-fishing, they are bleaching at an alarming rate. Marine biologists are coming up with new ways to stave off the destruction including using an underwater sound system

  4. These reefs were formed during the cambrian period when the CO2-concentration was 10 times higher than now, the average temperature was 7°C higher than today. So how are these reefs threatened by climate change? They are made from calcium carbonate, they need carbon and high temperatures to survive.

  5. It's not dumb if it works. From a google search, "Corals are covered in tiny hairs which get moved by sound. That movement gives the coral the ability to detect the direction of the sound."

  6. There's one way DW to stop this exponentially growing destruction. First PEACE WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS. War, provoked forever proxy wars, are incompatible with a livable future for 8 billion precious humans. Second, STOP BURNING HYDROCARBON FOSSIL FUELS. the endless hopium laced bs videos like this are doing nothing. The only number that matters PPM greenhouse gases pollution not only continues to rise it's accelerating. Shopping around useless fixes while still spewing more greenhouse gases pollution is cruel. Irresponsible. Unacceptable

  7. What if human waste disposal into the ocean also contribute to coral bleaching, the chemicals and sewage disposal combine with temp and carbon acid isn't aiding coral life. When sewage is pump into the ocean, the bacteria feeding on such waste are to increase exponentially to increase acidity if not consuming coral reef's as well.
