BRITAIN’S flagship aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth has been pulled off a Nato drill due to a faulty propellor shaft.

She was due to set sail from Portsmouth today to take part in Exercise Steadfast Defender in northern Europe, the biggest Nato exercise since the end of the Cold War.

The departure of the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth to lead the largest Nato exercise since the Cold War has been cancelled at the last minute after an “issue” with a propeller shaft was spotted during final checks.

The setback comes 18 months after sister ship HMS Prince of Wales broke down off the Isle of Wight, after it sailed for the US, having suffered a malfunction with a coupling on its starboard propeller.

  1. Does Rupert still listen to the voicemail of dead children. Any chance of anyone from the Sun joining HM forces? No I thought not.

  2. 😂🤣😅😆😁And British admirals declare war on Russia every day. A propeller needs to be attached to the Challenger tank in order for any of the British weapons to make sense 😄

  3. When R09 (POW) was in dry dock , it was stated that the same build fault was not pertinant to QE but now it seems as though it is !! Dont believe the press , any maritime engineer will tell that there is a fundamental fault with the ships construction immediately aft of the engines . Propshaft alignment is everything on anything with an engine and to think that these two state of the art warships have this fault which means both of them cannot engage in a theater of war means effectivly they are unfit for purpose . Furthermore , the builders "Carrier alliance" have gone bust and its the tax payer that will pick up the bill for a codge up …..yes a codge up , for that is what it is on both ships If the hull flexi at sea , the whole propshaft will overheat and seize , leaving the ship and its planes a sitting duck ! and we would have been better off buying one of the 4 US battleships to re activate as at least they are reliable with Putin shaking in his boots if Missouri or Iowa's guns were pointed at him ! At the moment he is sitting back laughing at the UK's so called flagships .

  4. And the British clowns in parliament and the military laughed at Russia's older diesel powered carrier. It still works, even if Russia isnt really interested in this obsolete tech.

  5. That’s two out of two. Failure on first operational deployment. What an embarrassment. RN and more broadly HM Armed Forces deserve so much better than this. Indeed our NATO partners and the forces involved in this critical exercise deserve better than this. Traditionally it was thought that our defensive capabilities were safe under Toryism. Not a bit of it. A party of treacherous, self-serving fools. 😡

  6. This just shows how very poor we are at Engineering now. Degraded over the years to a point almost of non existence, why even your tv repairer is called an "engineer" When he wouldn't Get by the first test. A nation of shopkeepers, dead right. iTS A huge advertisement about how bad we are.

  7. Did you vote conservative ☑️ did you vote brexit ☑️ do you hate Diane Abbott ☑️ despite her having one of the best records for “voting for the military covenant” (SOURCE: they work for us). So basically do one. Am I right on all 3?

  8. What a surprise, more money wasted (probably contracts issued to friends or relatives again) when will we start calling these people out?!?

  9. Oh dear, global power Britain as letuce Trussie once exclaimed. Nevermind, your pm Rishi got a big Bro in India. Their navy can loan you a carrier, with real planes which can fly too. And if you nicely talk to Xi and Putin, they may promise to leave you alone, it's doable, it's not worth their trouble anyway. 😅

  10. There is so much hyperbole over this. As if things like this didn’t happen in the past!

Like when HMS Invincible had to open up and repair an entire gas turbine set on her way to the Falklands in 1982.

Or HMS Bulwark who suffered a boiler fire in the 70’s

    Ditto HMS Bristol

Or HMS Warspite – the greatest of the great battleships which had a penchant for making unannounced emergency turns without warning

Watch the “Sailor” series of the 70’s and you will hear in the first episode that the ship (Ark Royal)had to leave Plymouth on 3 screws rather than 4 as one had broke down.

Crap happens and the ship was still in port. Why bodge it and risk further damage when proper support is available dockside.

  11. I mention this about two years ago and i got slagged off.
Tories got them on the cheep, its so embarrassing t the UK . And Look at the silence from the tory media. Navy silent, Media silent, . Laughing stock of the world

  12. Spending all that money on an obsolete ship. In the era of of cheap drones and missles, these things are almost useless. They should be building submarines and cheap destroyers…. but honestly, they dont need anything. They are letting the whole third world invade their island. Soon there wont be much worth defending. Just another third world country with a dwindling population that once conquered the world.

  13. It’s pure laughable is it not, billions spent on two lemons. Somebody got it seriously wrong and all these are good for are show as they are not reliable and I’m sure the crew wont have any confidence in these two POS.

  14. Perhaps building two supercarriers instead of new smaller carriers like the Invincibles of old would have been a better investment hmm?

  15. We can waste millions of pounds trying to get France to police it's own boarders which they still can't seem to do. Why not give the money to our Navy and Air force and let them do the job they should be doing!!
