US government sues Apple In landmark iPhone monopoly lawsuit

Apple has maintained Monopoly power in the smartphone market not simply by staying ahead of the competition on the merits but by violating Federal antitrust law consumers should not have to pay higher prices because companies break the law we alleg that Apple has employed a strategy that relies on exclusionary anti-competitive conduct

That hurts both consumers and Developers for consumers that has meant fewer choices higher prices and fees lower quality smartphones apps and accessories and less Innovation from Apple and its competitors for developers that has meant being forced to play by rules that insulate Apple from competition and as outlined in our

Complaint we alleg that Apple has Consolidated its Monopoly power not by making its own products better but by making other products worse Apple carries out its exclusive iary anti-competitive conduct in two principal ways first Apple imposes contractual restrictions and fees that limit the features and functionality that developer can offer iPhone

Users second Apple selectively restricts access to the points of connection between third-party apps and the iPhone’s operating system degrading the functionality of non-apple apps and accessories as a result for most of the past 15 years Apple has collected a tax in the form of a 30% Commission on the

Price of any app downloaded from the App Store as well as on inapp purchases if left unchallenged Apple will only continue to strengthen its smartphone Monopoly but there’s a law for that the justice department will vigorously enforce antitrust law enforcing the law protects consumers from higher prices

And fewer choices that is a Justice Department’s legal obligation that is what the American people expect that is what they deserve

The US government filed a sprawling antitrust case against Apple, alleging that the tech giant has illegally prevented competition by restricting access to its software and hardware. ‘Apple has maintained its power not because of its superiority, but because of its unlawful exclusionary behavior,’ said US attorney general Merrick Garland.

  1. They know that people in Brazil spoke the truth and they want to throw it in my head to say that I was the one who spoke, I even think it was because of the bank and they actually stole some of my money, be careful guys, they get into your mind and find out.

  2. So much "whataboutism" in the comments. It doesn't matter if they are not the first to enforce a monopoly and aggressively degrade the marketplace. They are still guilty of the same tactics whether or not the crime is unique or not. Apple needs reining in so that the marketplace can be competitive and that innovation has fertile ground. Never bought an Apple product, never will.

  3. If the usa government can make money from apple like European 🇪🇺 Union did they get apple to court, is not about us it's about the money all ways 😂
If any government care about us they didn't let companies sell their products without chargers and headphones 😢

  4. Apple hijacked web technology for like 10 years already. There are many web capabilities available on Android devices what is still blocked on IOS by preferring native apps installed only via the Apple app store since they gain more profit that way.

  5. I'm happy that the relationship between Epic Games and Samsung are healty because Galaxy users can literally install Fortnite on the Galaxy Store itself

  6. I'm amazed they brought this forward. Apple being the darling of the US, I thought it was untouchable.

  7. This whole thing makes me think of the – Wizard or Oz – movie. Turns out that when the curtain is pulled back there is no Great and Powerful Oz there's only a slick snake oil salesman who took advantage of people. And in this case people's vanity and sense of status has been manipulated by creating the "illusion" that apple products are better by purposely devising a scheme to make other devices appear inferior when in actuality the opposite is tr

  8. I don’t understand what their issue is… Apple created iPhone. They created the first ever multi-touch smartphone and they created iPhone OS, which was the first ever multi-touch operating system. iPhone is a product of the App Store. And if you want to develop for iPhone, you must pay Apple a 30% fee. Or don’t develop for iPhone. And you can develop apps for… knock offs of the iPhone which who knows how they got away with infringing on ALL of Apple’s patents lol

  9. In China, Android users say every day that the iPhone has been surpassed by Android and will go bankrupt soon without innovation. In the United States, it is even accused of violating antitrust laws.😅

  10. Its time for apple. High prices with fewer features and accessibilities. Its time they pay. Repeatedly creating same thing with different prices

  11. I used to have apple laptop the thin and the thick, iphones, ipad, ipod etc.. I stop buying apple product after I found out how limited it is from not allowing to play games to not allowing software and many more, I felt limited so I switch to samsung and boyyyy I will never go back to apple monopoly, some americans are so scared yo explore other none american products its hilarious, when you think about it, apple isnt even american to begin with
