I still can’t get my head around how Mark McCabe is such an absolute dry shite and won’t release Maniac 2000 to stream or buy. The song was an anthem.

  1. More fool him, plenty of money in weddings, 40ths and 50ths. If I was him I’d be putting up “yeah, yeah, funky yeah” posters all over the place. Milking every drop of that 15 minutes.

  2. “One hit wonder” shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing.

A YouTuber I used to watch was on tour with Wheatus. Apparently their sentiment about oy being known for one song was “Great! Our song makes people happy, why wouldn’t we be thrilled about that?”

  3. A lad stumbles into success by rapping over someone else’s song while he’s DJ’ing at the fucking Wezz of all places is complaining he wants to be seen as a serious artist?

  4. Awful awful song. Find it odd the most culchie sounding song ever was so popular in Dublin.

She was out for the night. She was in for a fright. STANDY BY

  5. Does anyone know is the song fully his? I always thought it was just him MCing over someone elses tune but maybe not?

  6. Back in 2000 we were all as cultured as a pair of Soviet Union drunks walking around Chernobyl with uranium in our teeth , jaws falling off us , but we didn’t deserve that cancer , radios spewing that radioactive material day and night wasn’t right. Thank you Mark MCCabe for doing the right thing , I don’t forgive you for that shite but at least you’re not denying any accident happened.

  7. He played in a club I worked at years ago. It was one of a few nights I was actually excited to go to work.

The nob never even played it. The place was in uproar as well

Also it was a shit set he played that night as well.

  8. My personal hypothesis (with no evidence to back it up) is that this is a smokescreen and he actually took it down because he was up to shenanigans and never properly cleared the rights to the original.

  9. A friend of a friend knows the lady who provided the female vocals. Apparently she hates being asked about it, and refuses to acknowledge the song even exists

  10. There is a little more to it then that. He never paid royalties to the female singer on the song. If the song went to streaming, she’d sue him.

Source: I work with the singer and she told me the entire story.

  11. I cringe at no other song more than this.

    Fucking worst song ever.

Anthem for scum. I said it. Don’t care lol

  12. He’ll sell it as an NFT later this year. The crypto folk will spend mega bucks to ‘own’ it and he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.

  13. I used to DJ with him back in the day when he was on pusle 103fm. He was sound and he was a very good DJ.

I see most comments on here are piling on as expected but you are all wrong. He never wanted maniac2000 to be a big hit.

But I suppose that doesn’t fit the narrative around here….

  14. I was at the great places to work event a few years back and he was the dj, and I had no idea who he was until he played that song. Everyone went mental for it.
Was only about 4/5 years ago too
