Met Police mistakenly Tasered London pensioner in his home

Roy Morton woke up to armed police raiding his home in Cricklewood, north London, last month.
The 80-year-old said he was Tasered, held to the ground and arrested by officers who told him they were looking for a suspect.
The Metropolitan Police has apologised and referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The IOPC has since instructed the Met to conduct the investigation, but said if the complainant was unhappy with the outcome he would have the right of review.
That’s fucked up!
Having said that, I’m sure they don’t just go around tasering people so I would like to hear their reasoning for it.
How big of a coward do you have to be to not be able to safely subdue a fucking 80 year old man.
More evidence to file in the folder of police were kids that got bullied at school.

I find it hard to believe they would tase someone if they weren’t resisting or threatening in some form but mistakes will be made. Didn’t a cop in the US literally mistake her gun for a taser and kill someone last year?
Nothing will change unless, each and every single time the police are accused of wrong doing, there is a full independent public enquiry, and the entire chain of command are held to account.
The officers who assaulted this man , were only a tiny part of this immense failure, every officer in the chain of command is not fit for the role they hold.
They are very lucky they did not kill him, none of them should be given a second chance, not one officer showed they have the abilities required for job.
There’s police officers and there’s pigs, these were the latter.
He looks remarkable for 80. Probably just as well because if the taser ended badly, I know not all behave this way but I wouldn’t trust them to be forthcoming about what occurred
(no body cam footage)
Good thing this didn’t happen in America otherwise there wouldn’t have been a victim alive to even interview.
This is the reason the British police should never have guns, let alone Tasers. And I bet that the officer that pulled the trigger, said I feared for my own safety and my colleagues. Well if you are scared, then you shouldn’t be doing that job, let alone be in charge of a Taser. When people are scared or in fear, they panic more easily, and this scenario is proof of what happens when someone is scared. Thank god he/she wasn’t armed with a gun.
Such level of utter incompetence. It’s mind boggling
