What the fuck has happened to this world, that parading a dead women’s body wins a prize.

reminds me of the pic that “won” by snapping a photo of a vulture waiting to eat a severely malnourished child
there’s gotta be a point where “discretion” and “professionalism” go out the window otherwise we should r/killthecameraman
Nice reminder that the AP paid terrorists.
Best case the ethics here are extremely questionable, worst case this is rewarding a terrorist documenting himself or his accomplices committing some of the worst, most gruesome crimes a person can commit. This dude documented it all for propaganda purposes and gets rewarded for it. Maybe ISIS should submit the bodycam footage of their Moscow attack for consideration.
I see this the other way – people need to be reminded just what happened on 10/7, because the rest of the media is bleating 24/7 about how evil Israel is.
They caught evil in the act as it happened. People should absolutely have that shoved in their faces over and over and over again.
These kinds of awards aren’t about the most artistic or aesthetically pleasing shots. In the context of photojournalism, it’s also about the rawness, the impact, the importance of the shot, and the bravery of the photographer in capturing them.
The fact that this is was a young woman with a family is part of the relevance of the photo, of its impact.
These are all people too. People with families, people who have died or suffered extreme circumstances, had that captured in a photo, which then won an award.
How many of you were outraged by these cases? Or is it only victims of Hamas that you care about?
Financially incentivized terrorism i see. How very Palestinian Authority of them.
What is this, an award for Most Gruesome Murder.
So disgusting fuck him and fuck who ever gave him this
It’s disgusting to see so many terrorists lovers. I hope and each one of them gets to meet their heroes
I’m glad someone documented the brutality of what happened that day. It was a great photo that defied the propaganda from Hamas. They can’t say they treated the hostages well, which they tried, because this photo shows otherwise. That’s why it’s a great photo and the award ensures more people see Hamas for what it is.
Got a big gold medal for knowing that terrorists were going to murder a bunch of young adults, and then proceeded to document it.
Fucking awful.
This is disgusting.
Something on this website is trying to drop a trojan according to Malwarebytes.
You’ve been warned.
I’m surprised people are surprised or disgusted, award winning war photos are usually way more brutal
this is such terrible taste……
Profiting from the death of Jews like it 1938.
Is the award from Switzerland?
tHe Ap Is A gReAt NeWs OuTlEt ThAt DoEsN’t HiRe TeRrOrIsTs
I just gotta ask the people in the Insta comments: why do you think Shani is topless and in her panties? You think she was dressed down to that before Hamas showed up?
It goes to show that there are people out there that would cheer on terrorists right up to the point that said terrorists cut off their head.
There was a movie with Jake Gyllenhaal about this.
Tossed in the box like a deer during hunting season.
Serial killers take trophies.
I see we’re rewarding terrorists for parading around the bodies of Jews they helped to kill… again… The more things change, the more they stay the same…
Can’t even tell where the article is on this website. Stop posting to this garbage website.
Shameful.
Yeah make the family relive this moment again, great job.
idk man, no matter how i try to justify this as being journalistic, this is still disgusting. who awarded this award?
Thats beyond fucked
So apparently the “nightcrawler” movie was a big influence for this guy and his agency
Hope they choke on the award.
People making excuses for this are truly the lowest form of life. If you think this deserves an award you are sub human and no better than the terrorists themselves.
They didn’t even mention Shanis name in the caption of the award-winning photo taken by a terrorist of her dead body being paraded through the streets. Dehumanization in its fullest form.
Serious question; is POYI (the people who gave out this award) a major, well-recognized institution? Or are they just a random org giving out awards to make themselves seem significant?
The only copy of the photo I can find is on APs Instagram, which I don’t have an account for, you can’t zoom in and the image is 50% logo.
Text description of the photo: there is a pick-up truck driving away, with some guys holding guns sitting in the truck bed. In front of them is the body of a woman, face down, with her T-shirt drawn up over her face exposing some of her chest.
The article picture being the missing sign for one of the victims he took pictures of is a nice touch.
You can’t help but feel the deepest anger and sorrow.
Didn’t even bother naming the victim, because she’s a pogrom trophy at this point.
AP and Reuters dropping the ball a fuckton on this conflict.

How many people outraged by this award, were also outraged by the photo of a [Syrian toddler’s body on a Turkish beach](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Alan_Kurdi)? That won an award too.
Or the Pulitzer-prize winning photo of [two parents in the depths of grief](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy_by_the_Sea)? Does that outrage you too?
Or one of the most famous ones; of a [vulture skulking nearing a dying child](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vulture_and_the_Little_Girl).
These are all people too. People with families, people who have died or suffered extreme circumstances, had that captured in a photo, which then won an award.
