It’s not something that can just be fixed overnight, in fairness.
Mr Bean would do a better job.
The targets which are already too low to have any real impact….also from septemeber last year…
>HOUSING MINISTER DARRAGH O’Brien has told Cabinet today that *the Government will hit or exceed its target* for new homes this year.
You can’t say they didn’t try. Long live FG and welcome the new Harris era
Everything this country succeeds at is in spite of the government, not because of them. They can’t support the most basic needs of our citizens. They can’t even write legislation that is clear instead of being vague and open to abuse.
So they can’t even hit the targets that they set themselves which were already way way below what we need.
Hard to see this being fixed ever tbh.
I wish they would stop going on about their plans to fix the issue. I don’t give a damn about plans. Any eejit can come up with a plan. I only want to hear about actual results.
Where is the long overdue changes to planning law? How many social housing units are being built right this month? Why are politicians in power allowed to be landlords as it is a clear conflict of interest since they directly benefit financially from the high rental prices?
Is like a doctor missing your appendix by 3 organs. Well they extirpated something…
Edit: typo
I think it’s time people accept that this has never been a housing crisis to them and is the new profitable status quo.
You can’t miss targets overnight
All
Those in a 3 or 4 bed council house move whose families are now grown up move to a one or two bedroom apartment and free up the gov housing stock for the next generation- it would make a huge difference- the ERSI report showed that yesterday – gov need to build more (good) apartments so people in both social and private housing have options to downsize – simple enough solution to be fair ..
Shower of useless pricks
Ooofh! So close
I wonder what spin they will use to justify and excuse this?
Things must be pretty bad and you cannot hit your own mass as and selectively chosen targets.
Is the journal paywalled now? When I open it, even in incognito mode I get asked to contribute, and I can’t see a way to close it.
2700 families left to rot on the vine. 2700 chances at a better life, wasted. 2700 chances for children to have a secure home, ignored. FFG Greedy and Corrupt in one all-in-one party.
Government fails to do what everyone knew they were already failing at. Populace continues to allow same idiots to try again.
In a country, or under a Government where there was accountability, the Minister for Housing would resign.
But this is Ireland, and this is the Coalition, and the only Ministers who are ever asked to resign are actual criminals.
Incompetence is rewarded by the colleagues backing you (see McEntee, H) and making them so complicit in incompetence and sheer malice that they themselves never feel obliged to resign when they fall short even of the minuscule standards they set for themselves.
