Judge sues city over bike-road, asks for it to be removed. City (partially) agrees with the plaintiff.

  1. This is going to be an issue if residents have nowhere else to park their cars. As much as I would love to see far fewer cars in our cities, the fact is that cars currently exist in huge numbers and they have to be parked somewhere. People aren’t just going to sell their cars: they’re going to either park on the street illegally, or park on a neighbouring street which is going to increase congestion for other people.

Of course, if residents do in fact have garages and private parking spaces on their properties and this will now force them to use them, that’s probably a good thing. But if not — you have to be realistic about how to encourage people to reduce their dependency on cars, and this isn’t how you do it.
