Slept over at my nans house last night because she had a fall and didn’t want to be alone, something I’ve not done in over 20 years, which was quite strange but nice.. was woken up at 6.45; instead of resting, my nan is pottering about; my Good Friday lie in plans scuppered.. but this was waiting for me..

Nothing ostentatious, just a decent brew and a hot cross bun to start the day off..

  11. Hope your Nan’s OK after her fall. It’s lovely knowing that, somewhere in the country, right now, there’s a Nan being kept an eye on while she’s pottering about.

    Re your HCB, my wife tells me that Nigella does a thing where she butters her toast so it all melts in like your HCB there. Then she lets it cool and…butters it again! I can’t bring myself to try it but I pass it on in case it adds further to your HCB experience.

    Look after your Nan.

  15. Oh great. Came here to enjoy hot cross bun chat and now I’m a blubbery mess reading about Nans and I miss my old “Nenny”

    My dad made us watch a western one day so she clacked her dentures most of the was t through it to puss him off. But he had to pretend it wasn’t bothering him. 2 hours of pure joy amongst many she gave me x

  23. Awww your Nan seems lovely. As a teenager I’d often sleep at my Nans on the weekend and I’d wake up and she’d have breakfast made for me.

  24. Hope she’s feeling better today! It’s the little things like hearing my grandmother potter around singing to herself that I miss the most.
