Moldovan border guards plan to cooperate with the Ukrainian authorities to help catch fugitives trying to escape through the Transnistrian region.

“Obviously, everyone is trying to save their lives, and most of the people who illegally cross the state borders are men aged 18 to 60,” he said.
Most of the Ukrainian fugitives use the Transnistrian region, the minister noted.
“Almost every week we conduct one or two operations to combat and eliminate various schemes organized on the territory of Moldova either by citizens of the Republic of Moldova or by Moldovan citizens together with citizens of Ukraine,” Efros said.
Currently, Chisinau also has some filters in place on routes coming from the Transnistrian region.
“We are trying to establish closer ties with our Ukrainian colleagues and have personally discussed with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine the resumption of joint patrols in the Transnistrian region on the Ukrainian side. This will help to prevent and combat illegal migration,” the minister said.
Earlier, border guards in Zakarpattia stopped 17 men, 16 of whom intended to illegally enter Hungary and one was a smuggler.
Another man rode a bicycle 750 kilometers from Mykolaiv to Bukovyna and was caught a few hundred meters from the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

Unpopular opinion here but this is absolutely morally indefensible – no nation has a right to force it’s citizens to fight like this and we absolutely shouldn’t support it. Mobilisation and conscription are fine, recruiting people who are willing to fight _if it’s needed_ but would not otherwise volunteer isn’t problematic, but actually chasing down people who are so opposed to the idea they fled the country is absolute bullshit, and stupid besides.
I understand why these draft eligible men flee. They are afraid. Let them go. But they should be too ashamed to come back and face people who overcame fear to defend their homes.

This is a tough one. On one hand, I totally get why they want to flee. On the other, this isn’t like dodging the Vietnam war. This is a nation under siege so I get why they are making an effort to get as many people involved as possible.
I find it hard to sit in comfort and safety of my home and criticize either side for how they’re handling this.
I might be one of the people fleeing. I might also be one of the people upset that my countrymen are leaving me to fight invaders on my own. I hope I never have to find out.
It’s just unfortunate all around. I just see people looking out for their own interests, I don’t see one side as being morally right or wrong in this. It definitely falls into a gray area for me.
