Hi all,
First, apologies for asking this question out of my own self-interest. I know there are a lot of people for whom the recent derailment is a much more significant difficulty than a potential delay to a holiday.
That said, my own question relates to an upcoming visit in May.
Following the derailment of a cargo train leaving to the closure of the Bergensbanen, I'm wondering if anyone can offer some informed guesswork around how long the trains will be down on this route. I know Bane NOR are refusing to speculate, but I can't tell if they're talking about a week, a month or six months. I have no frame of reference, either historical or technical.
I'm aware there are replacement buses planned, but I haven't been able to find a timetable. Would any native speakers mind having a look?
For context, the reason I'm worried (and again, I know this is a kind of selfish worry) is that I've created quite an efficient itinerary for myself, arriving Bergen airport early PM, departing Bergen by train mid PM, changing onto a connecting bus at Voss, and getting to Aurland just after 7 (last arrival of the day). A slower replacement bus would probably mess this all up, so I'm considering cancelling the bus from Voss, the train from Bergen, and even the flight getting me to Bergen (I'd be coming from elsewhere within Norway).
