Russia might launch an offensive, might take some more land, but the only thing they will achieve is out running their logistics and own defenses.
The Russian way of war is extremely slow and inefficient, they are not going to suddenly take kharkiv or some other huge obstacle.
Russia will continue to slowly whittle down their own force while Europe scales up production and delivery of aid to Ukraine far beyond what Russia can achieve.
It will likely still take years, but Ukraine will have a decisive victory and get all its land back.
Only with the right equipment from the west. Otherwise Ukraine will bleed out too and by then western equipment wont cut it for them anymore. Its costing Ukraine unnecessary losses to fight while being short on equipment.
Assume the worst and act accordingly.

Great, Ukraine has demonstrated once they secure a position, Russia can only take it back at an ever increasing cost of manpower and equipment per meter.. so US loan them 20 more patriot systems to stop the cowardly bombing of civilians and 70 billion dollars to kick the invaders entirely out of their country.. signed a really pissed off tax payer wondering how any member of either party of my country doesn’t want to watch the dissolution of a nuclear terrorist dictator
Russia’s only plan at this point is to somehow force Ukraine into a protracted equal exchange, which Ukraine will never do. Ukraine will simply give ground if they face the prospect of equal exchange, and then impose punishing — and quite unequal — losses on Russia as Russia advances into the gap.
Back at the Kremlin they no doubt congratulate themselves on these advances but at 1100-1200 lost for every square kilometer gained, not even Russia can sustain that level of “success.”
Hence their attacks to cut off Ukraine’s lines of supply instead. Not by force of arms but by political means.
So long as Ukraine’s friends and allies remain resolute, and defy these attacks and keep the lines of supply to Ukraine open, Russia can do nothing except bleed, and stage “vengeance attacks” by missile. It will take them years to rebuild enough of what they have already lost to be able to conduct a major operation again.
By that time, Ukraine needs them to be out of Ukraine. There is as the one guy said still a lot of sausage to eat to get there. Ukraine needs more personnel and Ukraine’s friends need to resume full support for their efforts. Russia being unable to mount major offensive operations, and Russia still being a formidable obstacle, do not contradict each other. Both are true.

I doubt the Russian military could organise a bubble-blowing competition.
They’re still dangerous though – we need to help Ukraine continue to massively wreck their equipment.

Hard to escalate with your boots trapped in a quagmire.
Neither Russia nor Ukraine. are fully committed to this war. Both of the can relatively easily increase their forces in the field by an additional 500,000 troops. Ukraine will do it because they have no choice . Russia will do it because Putin has no choice. He is riding the Tiger. Russians are not suffering. While life is not as good as two years ago, they are more concerned about security then an easy life. Putin will mobilize and Ukraine will extend conscription to 20 years of. It will be getting a lot worse.
