Should probably stop putting people in there unless they are an actual danger to the public and maybe get a bit more inventive with sentencing. Community service should be expanded, make them give back to the communities they are damaging. One of the highest recidivism rates in Europe, kind of seems like we might be doing something wrong

Judges should stop imprisoning people for minor drug charges. Someone caught with a small baggie of weed or coke is far less a danger to society than a pedo or rapist
Just start loading them into cells, get as many in as we can
Privatise the prison service and let the install SUPERMAX prisons on the arran Islands.
This might be extreme but I think turning one of the islands on the west of Ireland into a “prison commune” where everyone is forced to work the land to survive. Would they be 100% safe from each other no but if it worked for Australia it should work a second time.
Is this what we forget about when we complain about shit sentencing. I sense that judges know this shit when they are passing judgement. The country doesn’t have the capacity to incarcerate as much as we would like.
