So, i just moved to Leizipg, Germany 2 weeks ago and I got a mail fur Steuern number.
Basically I wanna understand how taxes work in this country because the letter says is a unique number and is related to me independently where I live, work, relationships.
I would need this ID to open a bank account in Sparkasse for example?
What else I could do with this identification number?
I need to do taxes at the end of the fiscal year through an app or in an office?
How I do it?
Thanks for any comment and recommendation

1. Banks: Because they deduct Tax for capital gains like interest
2. Employer: They will also ask for this number to deduct Payroll Tax.
3. Tax Office: When you are filing a tax declaration.
Anyone involved in taxes will want it.
Banks report and pay Capital gains taxes and your employer will take away a LOT of your money. I would suggest to try to signup for “Elster” (Electronic Tax Interface) also right now, since that takes weeks including physical mail to you.
