You forget that shrink scene from Mr Robot that we voted for this with our daily lives and choices. Get on with your lives, you will change little by posting in a very filtered internet bubble. Nazi-Russia is currently the driving force to bring fascism onto europe again. I’m scared. I can’t believe i was such a fanboy of russia and soviet union when i was an edgy teenager. Never again.
It was the soviets and partisans. The Americans only invaded when they knew the war was going to be over in order to prevent the soviets from occupying Europe. Millions more soviets died to fight the fascists and resistance movements in Poland, France, Greece, Italy etc were key to the defeat of fascism.

All this talk about the USA stopping facism (even ignoring other countries like spain as mentioned by the other comments) in ww2 is fake news.
The western allies put the nazis (minus the public political figure heads) in power in west germany after ww2, while russia did a full denazification in east germany and replaced them with good socialists and former political enemies of the nazis, and now 70 years later the support for dictators is highest in the east.
You should all thank Austria, as it was an Austrian citizen who killed Hitler and I believe that the murderer of Hitler deserves a statue.

I don’t want to critique people who fought for a good cause but I find it weird to post a random American cemetery on an European reddit. Is today an anniversary of something? Is there a reason why we specifically discuss Americans dying in a war?
I respect the sacrifices of every man, woman and child during times of war for a cause they believe in.
But this just feels out of place.
