Mr. Sanada is like one of the major go-to asian actors in the west today, and I find it mind boggling how little recognition he, and so many others, get!
what? hasn’t he been famous since Sunshine at least? Sunshine must be like 20 years old now
First saw him in Ringu back in high school – some ten years ago. Man has always been great. Deserves all the respect in the world.
why is it shameful? he’s mostly been a character actor in the West. there are a million character actors that spend their entire careers in the same boat.
Last Samurai for me. A brilliant actor.
I have no idea what they’re talking about! I’ve been a fan since the Last Samurai! He’s been in so many good roles.
Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira are absolutely incredible in shogun as well and deserve their props. The entire cast is fantastic
The guy has been in some the best movies, or at the very least some of my favourites, for years now. Don’t think I have ever not enjoyed his characters.
Rush Hour 3
Last Samurai
Lost
John Wick
Mortal Kombat
47 Ronin
Wolverine
Westworld
Twilight samurai was his best work till shogun
The Wolverine! He’s done a lot of great work and I’m always rooting for him when I see him.
I loved him as soon as I saw him in the Last Samurai.
Would have been cool if he got the chance to play Vegeta in a live action.
I feel great shame at this. Great. Shame. Is that enough for the writer of this dumb piece?
Also dogen from lost
He was great in Lost, I wish his character was explored more.
I like him in the syfy show Helix
Should’ve deserved an Oscar nominee or an Emmy award years ago. The dude is extremely passionate about his roles and he must’ve given his all.
Not going to read the article but I think it has to do about him being the lead actor. He’s great in Last Samurai but wasn’t the focus. Loved him in Bullet Train but again not the lead.
The guys been in very high profile movies for over 30 years, he keeps getting steady work, it’s just that when your watching a movie, you don’t realise who’s in it at the time until you see a recent one and be like “oh look its him!”. Nice that people are recognising him now though.
He’s so beautiful as a person
Been a-list to me since day one
Not related to his acting career (which I am a fan of) but a few months ago my socials were BOMBARDED by Mazda SUV ads featuring this dude.
Ninja Wars is my favorite
The man has a good Sengoku face.
EI EI OH!!!!!
I love the Last Samurai. One of Cruise’s best. Sanada completely stole the show in it. Couldn’t take my eyes off that magnificently fierce bastard
