For us not to detach from NATO, we’d need US not detaching from us
For a year or two, at least as late as last year, Kramp-Karrenbauer was pushing for more independence from the US in war & imperialism policy, even if she was quietly sending smoochie emails to Mark Esper promising to buy lots of jets. I suppose someone’s had a word.
Many sensible folk recognise “where we go 1, we go all” is silly in certain contexts. Shame it doesn’t apply to NATO.
Now that even Germany & Japan are re-arming, in a time of a world pandemic, deepening poverty, winding down of welfare, increasing instability for most people… we should see more clearly that our leaders are fuckin nuts
I hope the new Scholz government will have a different vision. President Macrons vision for a strategically autonomous Europe is a win both for the EU and American taxpayers.
IMO, America needs to dump Europe and invest in its citizens instead as well as shifting its bases to Asia. Between Poland attacking American business interests, Germany basically funding the russians with NS2, and france attacking any country that buys American equipment instead of Frace’s second rate subs and jets, America has no allies here.
Ridiculous. A failed defense minister, a failed party leader of a failing, regressive party who is leaving the upper echelons of said party because of how badly they lost the election is shilling for the next job to fail at.
Be gone AKK, be gone and never come back
If there’s a country that should probably shut up about NATO, it would be Germany. We should listen to the countries that border actual threats (so russian neighbours), and well as real military powers (which means mostly France now that the UK left).
German politicians need to realize that Obama is gone, and with him the last remnants of a benevolent american partner for Europe.
Quack, quack, lame duck. Her party has been in power for 16 years and has not managed to meet alliance obligations during that time. Now is certainly not the time to lecture everyone else.
another US puppet.
Germans make fine soldiers along with Turks ofc.I trust their judgment.
