Are nuclear power plants required to publish what they discharge, they probably discharge the cooling water into the sea. But I wonder what mechanisms are in place that put knowledge of operational fuck ups into the public sphere?
About 78% of the earth oxygen is produced by the oceans,
Anyone know what the plan is for breathing once the delicate eco system collapses ?
I wonder if there is any relationship with whats causing dogs to get ill when walking some yorkshire beaches ?
And the concern is about fishermen’s wages ?? I mean, that’s bad, but there’s a bigger picture here which is horrific
Says the people whose job it is to kill animals and decimate our oceans? Cry me a river…
If they voted Leave, and vote Tory, then they only have themselves to blame.
If they want to protect the natural environment they need to vote Green.
This article is awful. Doesn’t explain why this is happening or what any official response or policy is to the situation.
I had a great time swimming and kayaking in rivers during lockdowns last summer and in ’20. I knew it wouldn’t be permitted for long.
*”All the fish are dead!”* cry people whose job it is to kill fish.
This is beyond words. It’s really sad to see how bad things really have gotten.
I don’t understand, at Filey in Yorkshire there is a place called the Filey Brigg. I went to visit it a few years back…basically it just a massive sewage pipe. There seemed to be a lot more wildlife around the pipe than in the local are. I thought somehow the raw sewage was actually good for the small sea creatures.
Just me or is this an utterly terribly written article?
I have no idea what is going on here.
It’s going to be a steep decline as water pollution increases and we do nothing to stop it in any meaningful way. The next few years are going to be rough for the climate and it is going to be when we start seeing some big changes that were predicted but we chose to ignore. It would be shocking if we had not known for years that this is the point where climate change is really going to become evident.
One possible cause is seismic surveying for offshore fracking opportunities or even offshore wind farm cable connection with the substation onshore.
Sound waves directed at the seabed to collect data for sea bed mapping can destroy crustaceans apparently as the energy cannot dissipate and the creature dies.
If anyone with experience in this field can refute or backup this hypothesis I’d be very appreciative.
Source: local community magazine had an opinion piece about it last month.
The writer said a similar incident had been recorded of the east coast of the US.

Lots of dogs were sick after going on the beaches too.
Wild caught fish supply 17% of all animal protein consumed by humans – mostly to poorer communities in Africa and Asia
Another batch of climate refugees as their food runs out.

Our private water companies who made millions from us now pump sewage offshore as well as the money.
Local reports indicate the die-off I’d started near Hartlepool. This is also located at Hartlepool by the sea: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hartlepool_nuclear_power_station
