5. It’s great to see commitment from France and I hope we see similar commitment from rest of EU nations. My worry is that when you look at the military stock of EU nations, a lot of them don’t have much to give. Their spending was very low, not even fulfilling the peaceful 2% NATO requires, and lack of military industry in Europe and significant downsizing of military industry in the US. It seems that the 3 decades after the cold war, has basically neutered military equipment production, at least anything that is not related to aerospace industry. Instead of hoping for nations to find something in their stock, we need to focus on production of new equipment and legislatively provide funding and law exemptions to private companies that are willing to build new factories and expand existing ones. Otherwise, western nations will run out of their small storage of equipment they are legally allowed to give out.
