2. Yep, in Hungary we know it as “francia saláta”, french salad.

3. Called “salata de boeuf” in Romanian (beef salad, with the french word for beef, probably for the same reason it’s called french salad in Croatian).

   Fun fact, in my family it is considered that only savages put peas in it 😅

   Potatoes, carrots, pickles, mayonnaise, and about anything else random? Not a special meal over here. Quite common in summer, at a barbecue party for example.

   Wikipedia says it’s referred to as ‘Macédoine de légumes’ in France, but to my knowledge, that just means mixed diced vegetables. Not the mayonnaise or other ingredients part.

11. Slovakia, zemiakový šalát-potato salad. I eat buckets of this during christmas and easter holidays.

14. Yes OP, that salad is fairly famous and commonly eaten all year around Europe, at least in second world countries (post-Soviet), however it is not known by that name. Also some countries put their own twist on the recipe by adding some ham or other meat and vegetables.

17. Russian salad or Olivier salad in Finland. Not very common in my experience, but this might differ by region. I think it’s a new years dish, but regular potato salad is more popular in the south.

    typycally consusts of: cooked potatoes, carrot, celery root, parsley root, eggs, canned peas, mayonnaise and sometimes with additional raw apple. It is delicious.

28. It is in Poland “sałatka” which in translation is “salad”. Yes, people eat this and they are fine. It is quite tasty. 🙂
