Hi,
On my morning runs, I noticed a few weeks ago this plaque on the ground here. It mentions the Prime Meridian, and curiously doesn't mention the longitude in seconds, which is the error, it is about 50 seconds to the west of the Prime Meridian. There are other plaques containing some faded murals (?) on the ground laid out in a line with this plaque being at the start and end. What's the story behind it? Why is it incorrect?

I don’t know why you came here first instead of Google, but this was found relatively easily: https://the-line.org/artist/simon-faithfull/
It’s not clear why it’s not exact but perhaps it is suggested in the film itself.
A man took photographs along the Prime Meridian for an art project and the plaques are on the site he took the photos.

It was recalculated and moved at one time. The old one wasn’t wrong but it was based on assumptions about the ideal shape of the earth which is now measured better.
