  1. CHP stands for Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, republican party of the people. It is the historical party founded in 1923 by ataturk.
It is a mid left social democrat, and most of all, secular party.

  2. Erdo still has time to lock in and fix his mistakes. He will probably still remain a popular figure in the next elections

  3. The CHP what’s their policies and were they associated with any of the locked up dissidents?

  4. Why are you comparing elections that are 13 years apart

  5. Chp: Center-left secular. Main opposition party since forever.
Mhp: Old nationalist party, was taken over by Erdoğan by the way of party leader’s sex tapes.
Iyi Parti: Nationalists that left Mhp. Will probably remerge with Mhp when Erdoğan loses power.
Y.Refah: An attempt by the people who gave us Erdoğan to prepare for post-Erdoğan power grab. They are currently at that sweet spot where they pretend not to be corrupt religious zealots. Parti leader’s father was Erdoğan’s mentor.
    Dem: Kurdish party, left leaning.

All in all, this election shows Erdoğan’s grasp at power is waning, but the real deciding vote will be the referandum to change the constitution. If Erdogan manages to change the constitution a third time, we are doomed. If he fails, the Akp and Erdogan will be done for and we’ll be in the stage where seculars, nationalists and religious parties will duke it out to see who gets to re-organize Turkey’s political system.

  6. Not a fair comparison, why not compare it to the 2014 or even 2019 local elections? It still shows a pretty similar outcome.

It’s also important to note that part of the reason he did so poorly in the local elections is because of the rise of the New Welfare party and plurality voting, they have often split the vote in many areas causing the CHP to win. In the context of a general election proportional representation would make the CHP perform worse in comparison to local elections and in the presidential race which is majoritarian New Welfare Voters will switch to Erdogan in the second round.

So while it is definitely a loss for Erdogan, it’s not as big a loss as it seems for Erdogans public support.

  7. Any chance Hagia Sophia stops being a mosque once more?

  8. With inflation this wild, it is crazy to vote for the same government.

  9. Misleading, compare it with 2009 or 2014 local elections. Local and general elections have their own dynamics.

  10. First one is local elections, the other one is general elections. I dont see the point in comparing different types of elections.

  11. Why compare to the 2011 general election? It is 5 year terms, there are several newer to compare to
