A bit from the commentary:
>It’s not just the assault on abortion rights, which they can’t seem to hold back from, despite the resounding unpopularity of the anti-choice stance. It’s that the MAGA base is getting ever more vitriolic with its misogyny. Part of that is due to the more secular dirtbags of the Joe Rogan/Elon Musk variety, who have become such a loud part of the Republican coalition under Trump. But this escalation of boldly misogynist rhetoric is also coming from the evangelicals. Republicans can’t win without keeping those people happy, since the Christian right is where the GOP’s organizing power still mainly resides.
I highly recommend the “Shiny Happy People” docuseries on Prime for a good peek into the toxic patriarchy pushed by evangelicals.
The GOP has been quadrupling down on misogyny for YEARS.

I think this new campaign for the return to the “trad wife” rhetoric from the conservatives is simply a desperate attempt to make conservative women reproduce more.
It’s common knowledge that conservative white voter numbers are dwindling even way back the early 2000s. If they can’t sway new voters, they’ll just produce more.
If you go with the assumption that there is no bottom to the Republican agenda, the logical conclusion to all of this is the end of abortion, divorce, women voting, owning property, or having their own credit cards; and the return of slavery and child labor. What used to seem outlandish and insane to even consider is now fairly mainstream in the party of Trump. They’re not really trying to hide it anymore.
“Think for yourself and obey, just like us” – Today’s GOP
This surely isn’t what the US is now.
Yeah their submissiveness toward men is necessary to get free room and board.
“He’s been planning this night his whole life.”
Really? What kind of horseshittery is this?
Sadly some women want to live this way and who are we to tell them otherwise but trying to force all women os like trying to force everyone to worship there god. Its wrong
Like a Christian Taliban. Waiting for the part where a good christian woman has to dress so demurely as to cover her whole body & hair lest she tempt the other men around her. 🙄 Sound familiar?
Because at least 40% of women who vote, fully support being the property of a man, and want to force that situation back on all women.
Because this is what the GOP means when they want America “great again”. They want 1950’s America. Women in the kitchen,Jim Crow laws, racism normalized, gays in the closet, etc.
Ladies better be in a nice dress with dinner on the table when the man comes home from his important job. If not you’re going to get it and deserve it. This is the republican wet dream.
They’re going all out assault on becoming the worst people on the planet all under one label its impressive
Conservative women must really be excited to never vote again if they win.
Good luck with that strategy
These are the same people that complain later that they have to do all the thinking and planning for the relationship and don’t have a spouse that can help them do anything including income generation. If you want to marry someone who can’t function without constant input from you, you get what you get.
They have to keep doubling down. Their traditions are losing steam. If they don’t secure a solid foothold in the next generations now, they might not be around for their trad bullshit to stay in the public lexicon.
I think it’s time we start saying it plainly. Do you want to own a home? Do you want your own bank account? Do you want your own credit card? Or do you want to have all of your finances controlled by a male with no say in what your money is spent on?
1974 was not long ago (USA specific date)
Hmm. I wonder if there is a correlation between the coarseness and Trump’s influence. Trump ” grab them by the pussy” has single handedly brought back yellow journalism.
The man with the thinnest skin on the planet is also the man who trashes people, kicks rhem when they are down, and gloats over his boorishness.
He can dish it out, but he can’t take it.
Because this is what they want. Compliant women, children and citizenry. A foundation of abuse for the decades to come by controlling and limited education and access. No rewards, just punishments for people who disagree with the rules.
Passion drives traffic on social media. How much something is clicked on and shared decides what will be the topic/argument if the day.
Quadrupling down on the most fervent red piled voices enables the Right to dominate the daily media landscape. After several years of endless debate fatigue has set in. Those with the energy to be vocally offended by female lead roles in movies (that no one is for es to watch) eventually wear the rest of us down..
It isn’t just with sexism. The same people who had crocodile tears in their eyes over Colin Kapernick peacefully and silently taking a knee also can’t handle Taylor Swift attending a football game. This assault has been ongoing for years.
Mary instructed the Son of God to turn water into wine after his homies (the apostles) drank it all.
It’s the age-old story of the oppressed becoming the oppressors, Hand-Maid’s Tale Edition.
I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re actively trying to lose.
Just as any suburban GOP woman if she’s okay with losing her reproductive freedoms to satisfy America’s religious freaks, whose votes are so desperately needed to even remain relevant.
There was a woman interviewed after the RNC a couple of years ago… I don’t remember who but I’ll never forget what she said. She said she believed that women should be required to vote for the person their husband’s tell them too.
Absolutely fucking bonkers.
When Republicans lose big in this years elections, there will be a million articles about “Why are women abandoning the GOP?!” And The conservative news outlets will all say it’s because they’re all lesbian leftist cat ladies who don’t have a man in their lives to tell them what’s best for them.
Why do some women go along with this? You would think it would be against their self interest but you can’t think of it that way. It’s about power and prestige and class.
They will get hurt, but the women and people THEY despise, the Other, will suffer so more than them, so it’s a win.
They’re going to get fucked over by pissing off suburban women and then act surprised when it happens
They are American Extremists
It’s great politics to run against this/abortion.
They watched Handmaid’s Tale and went “ya… looks good to me.” Also that pastor is a gay sex scandal waiting to happen. My gaydar is screaming.
I hate how these people have a point to make but make it in the most idiotic, childish, way possible. Yes, we should have gender equality.
I hope they lose all the female voters!
You know, when I was a little girl, and showed some smarts, & said I wanted to go to college, my grandfather said- “you can’t go to college; you’ll take a space your brother should have.”
How exciting to live long enough to read this bullshit again.
1 ADN & a BS later. Sigh.
1Timothy 2-12. Yeah. Fuck that.
Organized religions and politics are impossible without divide and rule.
This kind of lady loves the abuse of misogyny
How about no?
My wife’s friend comes over a lot to hang out at our house. She was in a bad marriage but got a divorce because her ex was a very controlling asshole. In 2020 we were talking about the election. She didn’t know anything about any of the candidates, so I pulled up the sample ballot for our district and went through each section and I described who the candidates were and their position on issues. This woman is smart and has a successful career in her mid 40s. She knew nothing about any of it. I asked her how and she said she just asks her parents who to vote for and does that. Her parents are hardcore Catholic conservatives. She voted for Trump in 2016 because her parents told her to. Turns out the company she works for does a lot of purchasing in China, and Trumps tariffs really hurt her company and they had to lay off a bunch of people. I kind of looked at her blankly and pointed out the fact that she voted for the guy that could have gotten her fired. She was completely oblivious to that fact. She also has four daughters who have likely been taught that voting isn’t important and if you want to vote, ask someone like your husband, parents or grandparents who to vote for. And the funny thing is she’s not even conservative. She wants her daughters to grow up to be strong and independent. But it’s still ingrained in her mind that politics is something for other people to figure out for her.
There are a ton of people out there who don’t like politics and go out of their way to avoid it. I get it. Politics are petty and infuriating. But to be willfully ignorant on who you’re voting for or just having someone tell you how to vote, either through force, threat or coercion, is honestly worse than not voting at all.
The GOP candidate that hung in the longest against Trump was a woman.
The head of the RNC is a woman, and the one before her was also a woman.
There are 4 Republican female governors of states right now.
There are female GOP Senators, Representatives, and candidates.
That seems like a lot of successful powerful women for a party of rampant misogyny, doesn’t it? Just making the observation.
