Why am I suddenly in Beirut Airport, even though I’m in Cyprus? For a few days already, my location has been showing up as Beirut Airport, I believe it is because of some scallywags spoofing GPS. Does anyone else have a similar problem? It’s making all mapping apps (waze etc) totally unusable even in CarPlay.

  2. If you have an android phone and have enabled Developer Options, you might check in there for mock GPS location. If not, then, mountain pirates are the likely culprit.

  3. I’ve had the exact same problem with the “find my friends” app on my iPhone. It shows that I’m at an airport in Lebanon. I don’t know why but my knee jerk reaction was that it had something to do with my cellular data provider and its IP address.

  4. Due to the ongoing situation in Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon since 8.10 (when Hezbollah decided to join forces with Hamas and attack Israel from Lebanese soil, that is), Israel is spoofing GPS to prevent the rats of Hezbollah from shooting and long-range precision missiles.

    This shows where the gps signal is jammed
    I am using flightradar a lot and notice that most of planes landing in larnaca are shown to be diverted to Beirut.

  7. I randomly noticed yesterday that a weather app on my phone placed me in some location in Lebanon.

  9. I was on holiday in Paralimni a month ago and every once in a while Google Maps showed me being at the airport. Happened like three times

  13. I’m recently back in Cyprus from Lebanon and you should see the condition there… There’s all sorts of signal tampering for any media channel.
    Radio/tv, network, gps,….etc
    Edit: it’s Israeli jammers in action.

  15. Isrl spoofing and GPS jamming the whole region. It’s been happening for a while since the war started.
