Ummm it def is. There is a clause. Old news. Thus has been known for a hot hour.
What a weird “article,” this is the only piece of actual “news” in it:
>”Toho retains the ability to make its own Godzilla movies but with the reported limitation of not releasing them in the same year as a Legendary production,” writes [MovieWeb’s Richard Fink](https://movieweb.com/godzilla-minus-one-streaming-where/). “This might explain why Godzilla Minus One was given a November 2023 release date in Japan with a December 2023 release in the United States, as it allowed Toho to release their own Godzilla film ahead of the franchise’s 70th anniversary and not step on the toes of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.”
>This has been widely reported, but never substantiated by anyone with actual confirmed access to Toho and Legendary’s contracts.
So *three weeks ago*, some other site speculated as to why it’s not on VOD or streaming yet, and… that’s it. This guy didn’t even actually do the substantiating with the studios. Just added the sentence that nobody’s done it yet.
It’s wild people get paid for this shit.
All these Legendary flicks have been dog shit
I really want to watch Minus One again. What a silly clause to have. Let fans enjoy what they want to enjoy. You have an Oscar winning film that people arent able to see because of some stupid agreement.
Anyone who wanted to see The New Empire would go see it regardless if Minus One was available to stream.
You know what’s making me not want to go see The New Empire in theaters? The fact that I can’t watch Minus One because of some asinine licensing agreement.
