I get what the local Morrisons are trying to do, but at the same time offering this as a customer seating area just feels a bit depressing to me.

  1. Camberwell! It’s a sad Morrisons indeed but less stressful than the Lidl opposite where the queue fills half the store.

  2. Yeah this is quite a pointless thing but I do like how they’ve started to leave trolleys/baskets halfway through the shop. Saved me a few times after nipping in for ‘a few bits’

  3. Damn near every inch of a supermarket is accounted for and planned by head office. Frankly I’m surprised they found an empty space in which to put a table, so fair play to them for trying

  4. My local does this too at the end of an aisle. Thought it was just our shop that did this. Weird.

  5. tbh it helped my gf the other week when she started taking new meds and needed to sit down for a minute or two. i like the idea

  6. Ours does the same, right by the bakery stuff! It’s a really busy stretch too. Never seen anyone use it. Bizarre.

  7. What’s the notepad for? Are you supposed to draw the orchid?

  8. Said it before but there’s always something off and strange about Morrissons.

Like they were all designed by someone who’d never been to a supermarket but had one badly described down a telephone with poor reception.

  9. Four months later: “Welcome to the Cranberry Juice Suite sponsored by FruitCorp! Please scan your customer card to unlock your seat.”

  10. When I was first on my blood pressure medication, there’d be times when I felt terribly light headed. A space like this would’ve been much better than abandoning the shopping.

  11. My local has a whole picnic bench and cushions and stuff lol

  12. Just walked past one of these at the Morrisons on Gibraltar… Someone was sat at it, it didn’t look relaxing, they looked very uncomfortable and I’ll at ease because obviously everyone is going to stare at you.

  13. You have to sit there if you get timed out by your other half

  14. Ours has done the same, it feels very odd having a table and chairs randomly placed in an empty space.

  15. The Morrison’s near me have two tables and chairs in the bakery section with fresh flowers and free drinking water. I think it’s a great idea tbh. For people who may need a rest – the elderly or disabled.

  16. I remember being heavily pregnant and needing a place to sit. I’d end up sitting on the ground or floor wherever I was. Stores were not set up for things like this. It’s nice that Morrisons are at least trying, I guess.

  17. Is that the one in Camberwell? I saw that too. So fucking depressing 😂

  18. When I was heavily pregnant, I took a funny turn in morrisons and nearly fainted. A worker brought me a chair and a bottle of water. The only problem was I had been seated directly in front of all the tinned products so you can imagine how awkward it was for me and fellow shoppers. A table and chairs out the way would have been great at the time

  19. I like the idea of somewhere for people to sit down, for those with various medical issues etc. Not sure this is the way to do it. The second seat is not accessible. A couple of chairs with arms to hold onto and push up to stand would be very nice indeed

  20. If you’ve a disability, even a log could be a real life saver. Congrats, Morrisons I say.

  21. Ours has a really nice table with a couple of cosy chairs. Gets used quite a bit.
