  1. >The launch of a consultation has been announced by the Scottish government, aimed at examining the case for the UK government to close a loophole that means Scotland’s matches in major tournaments are on the list of matches protected for free-to-air broadcast but the qualifiers are not.

  2. I’d love to see it but qualifier TV deals are dished out by UEFA so good luck getting any change out of them.

  3. This is more down to UEFA, not the government. Nice try though.

My favourite part was where Humza actually explained what this ‘loophole’ actually is.

  4. Nice deflection from the very unpopular law he pushed through.

  5. This isn’t going to make us like you anymore than we already dont wee yin

  6. Same as always. All talk, no action.

They were elected to get us independence, nothing else.

  7. I guess it would take the sting out of the defeat if you get to watch it for free.

  8. No humza this isn’t the topic you are going to focus on today lol.

  9. The major issue is that England were allowed to drop of out of the joint nations package that included Scotland and Wales etc that previously existed so if a broadcaster wanted to show England then they had to show Scotland as well like Sky. Why they were allowed has not been defined

Broadcasters like BBC and ITV have the bandwidth to show multiple matches. Harder for CH4.

Scotland’s best avenue for guaranteed free to air football is to legislate for an equivalent S4C Welsh language clause with BBC Alba showing games broadcast in Gaelic.

  10. We should get to see them for free , every country should.

  11. I wonder if this is the politics of the student union and a bad attempt at deflection.
