My apartment has an M6 Minometer on each of the radiators. They seem fairly old, and the living room one is barely hanging onto the radiator by some tape.

I read the instructions on the website: [https://www.minol.de/ablesung-von-heizkostenverteilern-minometer-m6-m7-m8.html](https://www.minol.de/ablesung-von-heizkostenverteilern-minometer-m6-m7-m8.html)

The light-pulse thing to get the display to show more information worked, so I think the minometers are functional.

However, the number on the display is just labeled “consumption”. **Does this number have units? How can I tell based on this number how much I will have to pay for heating?**

The living room one has the number 10 on the display, the bathroom has a number that could be 0, 8 or 9 but is faint and hard to make out (I have never used the bathroom radiator), and the kitchen one displays 0 (also have never used the kitchen radiator).

My main concern is that I had not used the living room radiator since last winter, but the Minometer clearly says 10. What does this mean? It was cold enough this morning that I turned the radiator on, and after a couple hours it still says 10.

**Edit**: I see that this is getting downvoted. I apologize if this isn’t the right place to post this question! Please let me know if there is a better sub. I chose this one because I had never seen these devices before moving to Germany, so thought someone here might know how to read them.

  1. These numbers have no unit. They are all added up in the end for the whole house, and then ‘your share’ is calculated from your numbers.
