> The analysis suggested the UK was also lagging behind comparable economies, such as Germany. In 2008, the gap was more than £500 a year. Now, the Resolution Foundation suggested, it was more like £4,000.
How long have the Conservative party been in power in the UK?
Do you wonder why the politics and economics class are orientating the social debates towards the woke thematic ? Divide and conquer.
Meanwhile they steal the plus value of our working productivity ‘ increasing.
Yes.but mainly because the growth pre 2008 was fake. The crash of 2008 adjusted the bubble which was making people think they are richer then they actually were.
“Stagnant after adjusting for inflation” is not a thing. It just means everyone in a country is not getting any richer. Which in UKs case is perfectly fine.
Isn’t that a good thing? They are not going down and the country has a high standard of living and PPP.
I left in 2008.
I was bored the other month and looked up my old job (at a national company), salary advertised was the same. 16 years later…
Except for doctors, for doctors they have dropped by 30%
What about rejoining the EU to strengthen economic prosperity in the UK, for the people?
Cheap labour brings more investments
That’s a weird way of saying “wages have stagnated under 14 years of conservative rule”.
Anyone ever heard of peak oil production ? Oil production have been decreasing since 2008, and in a society where every single thing depends on petroleum, you can’t get richer with less petroleum, and it won’t improve.
You can probably thing the same kind of figure in any western european country.
If you understand French, search for Jean-Marc Jancovici. Sadly I don’t have any source on this in English.
How much has the population grown during the same period? How much has the total national payroll grown during the same period?
It’s first by design, second, because we let them
But the value and profits of companies has steadily been increasing.
I like when people blame the conservatives for this while negating the fact it’s this country full of morons who consistently ignored the evidence and voted for them
Please get me out of here
And so the Conservatives conserved the wages…! It does what it says on the tin, folks.
Why would wages increase in real terms? We have to compete against cheap competitors and have failed to do that through productivity improvements.
The world doesn’t owe us a good standard of living – we have to earn it.
But quarterly reports (and thus Management’s bonuses) are excellent!
In italy the situation is similar, but we’ll rapidly go to shit.
I’d advise you to save yourself guys
I’m planning to move out of italy just after I end my studies because my dream job wouldn’t pay for a decent life:
1400€ would be how much I get paid, 700€ is the average rent in the city I live in while the average cost of a 4 room house is 130k€
Considering to eat for 100€, pay for my igiene and my mobility (I have to own a car) I’m gonna consider 400€ per month.
Free heathcare is nice but it’s slowly going private even here.
I can’t picture myself being forced to spend 80% of what I earn in order to survive instead of doing something I like, hence why i’m moving out as soon as possible.
Compare these numbers with real estate prices and the FTSE stock index….. Workers, especially low paid workers simply get all the time a smaller share of the growing cake
Conservatives did a fantastic job of sorting out that problem didn’t they?
I dislike statistics that show *average* income. Sure, I’m happy for the 10 ultra rich people who make so much more money than they already were, to the point that they single handedly pull up the statistic. But that isn’t really relevant to me or any of us, innit? Rather show me how the *median* income is falling off a cliff.
If the profits of the companies are increasing but the wages are stagnant it means that the country is robbing its own citizens, simple as that
2008 fucked up so much in the general economy. there are some very interesting videos out there about how the financial crisis got rid of productivity gains
well the tories like to conserve their way of life you see, and fucking retards keep voting for these cunts.
we will never see change with the prehistoric dinosaur party in charge.
It will stagnate if you have big population growth
Hollowing out your country to enrich those at the very top.
It’s just going to further speed up the timetable for waning UK influence.
The Tori recipe for success is like the Republican one. Screw over people, make them poor, make them angrier, and they’ll vote for you again. Because you give them someone else to hate even more than they hate you.
Whole eurozone economies gdp have stagnated since 2008. Look it up and compare it to US GDP. Europe is really sick.
Ah, voting Tory is great innit.
Can someone ELI5 how it’s a reasonable expectation within capitalism to experience constant and unceasing growth? Especially around Profits.
I genuinely can’t understand how that is a sustainable model?
We need another five million third world migrants to get those numbers down even further.
No worries, Italian have it sorted: negative over 30 years putting is here in UK in a safe heaven
