Went to the promontory outside the fort and noted this carved into the rock, facing the Saluting Battery in Valletta. It looks old, but I couldn’t find any (English) references online other than two short pieces on Lovin Malta from 2018 acknowledging its existence and legality.
Does anyone know more?

I’m going to assume that some idiot vandalized the fort some time back in the 70/80s…. so it looks old, but its not that much
Probably some idiot that thought it looked cool without knowing what it actually means, we have a bunch of those here.
The nazi one is inverted…. Still people, don’t graffiti historical buildings
