  1. In the news tonight: Bill Maher is a dick. Water also reported as wet.

  2. Bill would rather get ripped than to spend some time having a conversation with someone.

  3. Poor Bill. He’s so irrelevant, people don’t even want to waste their time talking about him.

  4. Maher then went on to say ” I thought you were a hip cat but you’re just a square, man.”

  5. Honestly, this really isn’t that big of a deal from either side. It’s Bill’s podcast. He can do whatever he wants with it. And it’s Steve-O’s sobriety. He can do whatever he wants with that.

Not every situation has to have a good guy and a bad guy.

  6. Steve should’ve worn a mask, that would’ve really set Bill off.

  7. Why is anyone surprised when Maher acts like a knob? He’s a dick and has been a dick for years.

  8. As someone in Sobriety Steve O should know that you can ask, but others can decline. You only have control of yourself.

  9. I used to enjoy Bill Maher. Now he’s insufferable.

  10. What I got from the article:

    > Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst will host a show about UFOs and conspiracy theories.

Why am I not at all surprised by this?

  11. All you can do in it is ask, and if people say no, then you don’t show up. Same reason I’m not going to a team building event this evening. I’m sober after 30 years of drugs and alcohol. My office is mostly younger people and this event is at an Airbnb for game night and cocktails. Number one I’m sure they don’t want their manager there anyway, but number two I have no interest in being around a bunch of drunk co-workers on a random Tuesday night. When they updated the notification yesterday to say, people can crash overnight, I thought this sounds like a potential HR nightmare that I have no interest in attending.

  12. There’s a movie called Brazil where a lady is getting her face stretched out and that’s what Bill Maher looks like.

  13. I don’t really know much about Bill Maher. Never watched his show. Or his comedy? I only really know him from being mentioned on things I have watched or when he was on JRE.

I know it’s a little unfair to judge him based on that one appearance and this article, but I’m gonna anyway.

He seems like a pretentious douche. Like, everything he says he thinks is gold. He just comes off as an arrogant asshole, who really doesn’t learn anything because he never listens to people.

  14. This may be a hot take, but I think they both are right here. Steve -o has all the right to ask for accommodations and back out if they aren’t met. On the other hand, it’s bills show and it is a habitual thing for him and his guests to do to loosen up. Not everything can be compromised on.

  15. Bill is a legendary asshole, I’m not at all surprised by this information.

  16. I’d listen to Steve before Bill so he just needs another platform and he’s good. That’s the beauty on life today, the gatekeeping media and who can be on isn’t there any longer. If I want to watch some interview on NBC, I can just as easily as watching someone go live on IG or Tik Tok. Not being flexible isn’t something producers/hosts/etc can hold on to anymore or else all the guests will not be on their show.

Maher has a strong fanbase so this isn’t that big of a deal to him necessarily but it’s still something that can effect him and other shows/etc.

  17. I don’t know what the big deal is here.

“Hey Steve-O want to do my show where I smoke and drink and interview guests?

Sure but can you not do that stuff? I’m sober.

Oh right sorry. Guess this isn’t the show for you. Dealbreaker.”

Like sometimes it happens? If you can’t be around booze for example a lot of podcasts have that as a feature. As they do weed. Just looking for some attention, which is fine. A story is a story.

  18. This feels like a very made for headlines story. I’m not defending or attacking anyone, but it’s not like he showed up and smoked in front of him. Move on.

  19. Hey but at least Steve-O didn’t have to have a conversation with Bill Maher

  20. His whole podcast is about being in a club atmosphere so he can smoke weed, can’t Steve-O just have him on his show?

  21. I’ve said it before but Maher is such a petulant little kid. I used to watch his show and almost every time a joke didn’t work he would get salty and blame the crowd, either implying they were too sensitive or too dumb to get it. 90% of the time he’d do it.

  22. Steve-O literally glows these days. So proud of him!!

  23. This just in…Bill Maher is and always has been a complete and utter douche-canoe.

    More at 11.

  24. Seems like a Bill Maher thing to do. He’s such a prick.

  25. Bill would benefit from grounding his ideas a little bit with sobriety.

  26. I really dislike Bill Maher, but this story seems like a nonstory. Two adults made their personal boundaries known, decided not to engage as a result of a failure to align. That’s what grownups do. Good on both of them.

  27. What’s dumb is that even if the idea was “chatting while high” he could have just gotten high first, or taken an edible, or just taken a few smoke breaks out of the room and edited them out of the podcast.

That’s how unreasonable he was being.

  28. His show I guess he can do what he wants but that is pretty inconsiderate. I feel like Bill Maher fell off years ago anyways.

  29. I enjoy weed, but I enjoy respecting other peoples sobriety more

  30. That was the only time someone smoked weed in front of Steve O in 16 years….if you are going to fall off the wagon after 16 years because someone smoked pot in front of you, you are looking for an excuse to fall off the wagon.

  31. Two insufferable personalities again putting it on full display for everybody to see.

  32. And he was fine putting it away when talking to Sheryl Crow

  33. It’s what the show is, smoking weed and talking. I mean I think it’s dumb but that is the show.
